The water is down, but this place was so beautiful and peaceful, we were even followed by a lone wolf.

Beautiful drive but Heron lake is so dry that the campsites around it are closed. The Rio Chama nearby is incredibly low and murky. I came out this way to fly fish and wade the Chama only to find out its barely moving and the lake is down considerably. Gorgeous views in this area, but not very ripe for fishing

The water was very low. Beautiful views, cleans camp sites. Would definitely go again.

Fantastic campground! Camp staff members were so helpful and friendly. Blanco campground spots have tons of space and are spread out nicely. Quiet and clean! We will be back! The photos only show the immediate area. The site was large enough to house our camper, truck, awning, and screen house 3 times.

Beautiful park with awesome RV spots. We brought our 44' 5th wheel for New Years and had an amazing experience. So much wildlife big mule bucks and even saw a few elk. Water lines were frozen but camp host allowed us to use the spot next to us that was empty so it all worked out. We would stay here again 100%

Spent 4th of July for 3 nights. Quiet and peaceful. It’s a beautiful, beautiful place. Lots of folks didn’t come because some of the campgrounds have no water. We brought our own with our camper and we were very happy that we encountered few or no other people. Glorious! Only caveat: bring industrial strength bug repellent. The biting gnats were out in force.

I was pleasantly surprised by this lake. The reviews make it sound so low, but it was actually pretty full in early June 2023. We didn’t have boats though, just camped. I’d definitely recommend everyone check out this lake! The Brazos cliffs near by are also an excellent hike to check out.
