Location & Surroundings

The park is famously situated on a high bluff, offering panoramic views of Kachemak Bay and the surrounding volcanic peaks. Located just five miles from the heart of downtown Homer, the site provides a peaceful vantage point away from the crowded tourist zones while remaining incredibly accessible. From the park, guests can look across the Cook Inlet to see the glaciers of the Kenai Mountains and the silhouettes of Mount Iliamna and Mount Redoubt. This elevated coastal setting ensures that visitors are treated to some of the most spectacular sunsets and eagle-watching opportunities in the state.

For those traveling with pets, the dedicated KampK9 dog park provides a safe, fenced space for exercise. The on-site camp store is well-stocked with local gifts and RV supplies, ensuring you have everything needed for a smooth stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

A short drive leads to the iconic Homer Spit, a narrow four-mile long gravel bar extending into the bay that is home to eclectic shops, art galleries, and world-class seafood. Known as the halibut fishing capital of the world, the area offers numerous charter boat excursions departing daily for deep-sea fishing adventures. Visitors can also explore the Pratt Museum to learn about local natural history or spend a day at the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. For those seeking active adventure, hiking trails in Kachemak Bay State Park are accessible via a quick water taxi ride from the harbor.

Who This Park Is Best For

We have traveled in RV around Alaska for a few months and stayed on many RV campgrounds. Baycrest KOA is by far the best one! Staff is very friendly, grounds as well as bathrooms a laundry are SPOTLESS! And the views are out of this world! I would highly recommend to stay there.

If you want rude people and like to be rushed and continuously bothered, this is your spot. If you want to enjoy Homer, there’s places in the spit that are a million times better than this place. Good reviews are from friends or people who just used this place to spend a night and kept going.

This is such a great KOA. The staff is amazing, the campground is amazing, the bathrooms have heated floors and are very clean, showers are great, laundry room is huge with plenty of washers and dryers ($4.00 to wash and $3.00 to dry), and the view is fantastic. We had a back in patio site on the bay. Our site came with a BBQ, table and chairs and a firepit on a concrete pad. Wifi was really good. I wish our schedule allowed us to stay longer. We stayed 3 nights. It was quiet even though the campground sites along the main highway. There is a nice playground. They have plenty of tent sites as well as a cabin and some bunkhouses. If you are heading to Homer, this is the place to stay. Thanks for a fantastic memory.

This is a very very nice KOA. Up on top of a cliff overlooking the water just a few miles north of Homer. I stayed in the bunkhouse that sleeps 8. It is conveniently right next to the bathrooms. The shower facilities are first class and are possibly the best showers I have seen at any KOA.

Best KOA I've ever been to and we've stayed at several. The bathrooms were immaculate. The showers were hot. And the view from our site was unbeatable!
