The Good, the Clean, and the Wild Burros...

​Let’s be honest, finding a good state park is a gamble, but Homolovi is an absolute jackpot. Here is the breakdown of why you need to stay here:
​The Bathrooms (The Crown Jewel): First off, they have real, flushing toilets. No drop toilets here, folks. Your nostrils are safe. The only minor catch is that the water pressure is a little on the gentle side. It's perfectly fine for a standard rinse, but maybe don't plan on doing a deep shampooing of your hair or a high-pressure, deep-scrubbing of your nether regions. Adjust your expectations and your hygiene routine accordingly.
​The Staff: The ranger at the visitor center deserves a raise. She was incredibly friendly, super helpful, and just a delight to talk to.
​The Location: It’s ridiculously close to Winslow, Arizona. You can easily zip over into town, stand on a corner, and do all the touristy things your heart desires.
​The Locals: WILD DONKEYS. Honestly, need I say more? They’re running around being adorable, and they completely steal the show.
​The Campsites: Exceptionally well-maintained and perfectly level (your spine will thank you). It’s great for both tents and RVs, and comes fully loaded with picnic tables, fire pits, and actually has some shade.
​Bottom Line: Clean flushes, friendly rangers, wild burros, and a level place to sleep. 10/10 would get gently rinsed here again

An interesting site, tons of pottery shards strewn about made up for the dwellings being less prominent than other sites in the South West. Lots of info at the visitors center and multiple sites to enjoy and walk about after youve read up on the history a bit. Fun stop off of interstate 40.

Second time coming here!  I love the pull through sites, the wide open spaces with long range views, visiting the ruins and learning the history of the area.  The price for a night is quite reasonable.  The state park is close to Winslow so we got to do the Route 66 thing plus load up on supplies from walmart and wash clothes at the laundromat minutes from the park .

What a lovely park to visit in the spring. So picturesque, lots of history, clean restrooms and showers, peace and quiet. The rangers and camp hosts were so friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come again.

Lovely spot to visit even if you aren’t camping there. When we went, it was pretty empty which is surprising for Native American ruins. We saw donkeys and horses while driving through which was awesome! The walks are very easy and there’s tons to look at. The staff was very helpful and answered any questions we had.

Clean, warm bathrooms (we visited in February), spacious campsites with covered picnic tables and neat fire pits. Office staff /rangers were really nice and helpful.

Surprising nice campground! This was a last minute unplanned stay and turned out to be so nice! The sites were large and next close together. Each site had a covered area with a picnic table and fire ring. Showers were clean. Wild burros free roam the park which is really neat! We could hear them braying in evening when we were around the campfire. The ruins were really neat and there’s broken pottery everywhere! Overall a great park/campground, would stay here again!

This was a great place to camp while az was getting rain for days. It's up on a bit of a hill so we are fine. I really enjoyed watching the wild donkeys. We walked to homolovi in and loved seeing all of the pottery shards. Homolovi ii had more intact buildings and really nice walkway.

Such a beautiful park! I wish I could have stayed longer! The spots were great not to close. Most sites had a covered picnic table and grill.  I was on site 5 and mine didn't have a cover but a nice tree that my picnic table was under. There was a restroom and look like showers but I didn't go in. The building itself looked new. It was pretty busy.

Loved our two night stopover here. There are showers and flush toilets that are all very well maintained and clean. The park is beautiful and very quiet ... no train noise but you see them off on the horizon and I know there are reviews of other parks that mention the noise so that was a bonus for us! The sites are large with a cabana and picnic table at each one. Just a 13 minute drive to the infamous "Standin' on the corner" location. Another review mentioned a very bumpy ride into the site, that has been fixed and it's not bad at all... would NOT stop me from going at all! Highly recommend this spot!

We camped 1 night here while traveling through so didn’t have time to take any hikes. Very clean and quiet park. We would would stay here again.

We spent 4 days over Thanksgiving camping at the Campgrounds. The process of checking "in" on Thanksgiving Day was super easy, just a phone call.  The campsites have level pads with most having electric hook ups for RV Campers.  The Campgrounds have a dumping station with Potable and Non-Potable Water available.  Due to the frigid night temperatures the water hookups at the sites were turned off.  We visited all of the archeology sites, the visitor center and went on a few hikes.  The Park Rangers were very informative and told many stories about the history of the region.
Restrooms with showers are available.  Due to the night time temperatures we didn't use the showers, the water seemed toooo cold.
The park is only about a 1 hour drive from the Petrified National Forest and many Native American historical sites.
About 13 miles north of the Park entrance on Highway 87, just before mile marker 360, there is a small dirt road to the left that will take you to  "The Little Painted Desert".
