Indian Hill Ranch RV Park
Overview
Indian Hill Ranch RV Park offers a quiet and spacious retreat for travelers exploring the unique landscapes of Southern California's mountain regions. Located on a working ranch, this park provides a distinctively rustic atmosphere that stands apart from standard roadside stops. Visitors are treated to panoramic views of the surrounding hills and a sense of isolation that is hard to find near major highways, making it a favorite for those seeking peace and quiet during their journey.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the high desert town of Tehachapi, the park sits at an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet. This location provides cooler temperatures during the summer months compared to the nearby Central Valley or Mojave Desert. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, native vegetation, and a wide-open sky. The park is far enough from the main roads to avoid significant traffic noise, preserving the natural ranch environment for all guests.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is designed to accommodate various RV sizes with full hookup sites that include water, sewer, and both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. While it maintains a simple, no-frills approach, the sites are notably wide and long, providing ample space for slide-outs and tow vehicles. Many sites offer scenic mountain views over the ranch property. On-site management ensures a safe and well-maintained environment for both short-term stays and long-term guests.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Rail enthusiasts will appreciate the park's proximity to the world-famous Tehachapi Loop, a marvel of railroad engineering located just a short drive away. For those interested in local culture, the area features several boutique wineries and apple orchards that offer seasonal picking. Outdoor enthusiasts can access various hiking trails within the Tehachapi Mountain Park or explore the towering wind farms that define the local skyline and provide unique photographic opportunities.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for independent RVers who prefer a tranquil, rural setting over the amenities of a luxury resort. It is a perfect match for nature lovers, bird watchers, and photographers looking to capture the rugged beauty of the California highlands. Travelers with large motorhomes or fifth wheels will find the spacious sites particularly accommodating, offering a comfortable home base while exploring the hidden gems of Kern County.

Been here about 9 years nice place friendly the only problem is I don't get a copy of the electric bill. It is only written out by the office on a guest card and as of now the big propane tank does not work and I'm 70 years old and have to have propane in order to stay warm for the most part. It's a nice place. Very quiet. Lots of nature The manager is very nice. She works really hard. Her name is Monique.

I went to camp here with my sons and vis friends. I left to go to the store and left them at the campground. They went to look at map of site and were told by the man who works and lives in site that people at the site don’t like black peope. My son’s friend is black. Then they went to walk to the park and they were called racial slurs!! I am so disgusted!!

It’s cheap for a full service camp site. $30/overnight stay. Most units in the site look semi permanent. Not much space between units and I didn’t find bathrooms or showers. Elevation is pretty high so a lot of climbing to get there from Bakersfield (approximately 4000 ft). We were happy with our stay as the place was pretty quiet for a place that was packed so full.

Definitely recommend a stay if you're passing through the area. Older, small RV park but a gorgeous spot. A bit higher than I like at 5K', it gets colder and ice/snow tends to hang around in the winter. On the flipside, during the other 3 seasons, it's absolutely gorgeous weather and an out of way, off the beaten path place to enjoy the best of the high desert. Friends use the RV park this past winter, had some electrical issues from old wiring. Prices are comparable to others in the area. Spots are a bit close but nothing atypical of other RV parks. My late husband and I used their campsites several times and always enjoyed the stay. Always enjoyed the Pow Wow, wish they still had it!
