Campground is great, best firewood i ever got. Gabe is great! Bathrooms are run down with no heat, as a result, this time of year we were not able to use the shower.

Roverpass allowed same day reservation past 6pm. This really needs to be disabled, as I had no way of contacting office staff for assistance after they closed. The campground was pitch black darkness upon my arrival. As I had never been to the campground before, I could not find my campsite after circling for a half hour. I ended up parking in front of the office and staying the night there. No one ever responded to the message I left, and no one answered the phone at start of office hours the following morning. My presence was never acknowledged. I can tell you that the front of the campground is quiet and clean.

Locked toilets, no wi-fi, no (over-air) TV, no cable TV and our site (112B) had no water, no drain and just a domestic type 10 amp socket. So if going to the toilet in the woods is your thing, then this is the campground for you.

We arrived at 5:10. The office was closed. We found paperwork on the bench with directions to our site. Very poorly marked sites and hilly campgrounds. Drove around 35 minutes in search of our site. Finally a kind person familiar with the campground helped us find a better site. The office never returned our call and we were there two nights. Our original site was in a group of three, sharing one driveway to get in, which was not clear when I booked and would have been difficult for us to get into the site. The campground is heavily wooded, hilly with poorly maintained dirt and rocky roads. Access to many camp sites was narrow and looked challenging. If you were to arrive at dark it would be near impossible to navigate. The campground is old and bathrooms are beat. Definitely needs updating.

My campsite was filthy from previous campers. There was trash everywhere including used paper products The people in the campers on either side of me had huge piles of non perishable trash and debris. The bathroom had a used fluorescent light bulb lying across the top of the sinks, and large signs posted about prosecuting those who destroy property. There were KEEP OUT signs posted all around It certainly wasn’t the tranquil beautiful spot advertised There were also flags everywhere, stapled to trees, at every campsite, the permanent resident campers all had multiple flags. It was menacing and hostile This is a great place if you wear a red hat

Beautiful, peaceful spacious sites. We stayed all summer… location is super convenient to attractions, restaurants and all you need but still out of the way from the noise and chaos of the city

Pros: Family run, friendly staff, friendly seasonal residents, everything worked, bathrooms were cleaned regularly, and they happily and pleasantly accommodated a move to another site when the site I selected on website booking wasn't going to work for our travel trailer / set-up. There is a walking path (we may have been trespassing a little) that brings you out across the street from Ellisville Harbor State Park. Very nice spot to see the ocean and let the dog swim a bit. It was about 3 miles there and back from our campsite in the back of the property. Areas for Improvement: Neither the site I originally booked nor the site we moved to were cleaned in preparation for campers. Sites and fire pits were very messy with debris. No gate or verification of who is on-site, which in our case led to a large group of unregistered 'friends of a seasonal' just setting up camp in an unoccupied group site next to us without any reservation at all, and the office only found out because I told the front desk that they were up until 5am (no joke). I feel like it's a little too lax, and made us feel uncomfortable - lots of people in and out of the park all day and night seemingly unchecked. Some maintenance was needed in bathrooms but they were cleaned regularly. Acknowledgement: There are all different types of campgrounds and everyone has different preferences. It was a holiday weekend so I expect noise, and there were some very large groups tenting, blasting music, but they all seemed to honor the quiet hours within reason. One of the groups looked like they had a wedding with live music, which was so nice to see. An honest 3 stars. I don't think we will be back, but that's primarily because it just isn't a good fit for what we like. If you like the party atmosphere it's a good value and location.

Nice campground, but noisy and shady people. I will definitely not be returning. I'm not one to complain, but this place is not good.

We stayed at Indianhead during the Levitate Music Festival and could not have been happier. Tina and her staff were extremely responsive and informative. Our site was absolutely beautiful. On the day of our arrival they offered live music and a food truck. The store had the necessities, as well as a slushy machine and ice cream novelties. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some kids may be accustomed to at the larger resorts, but for us, who appreciate the beauty and serenity of nature, it was perfect.

My kids would have rated it lower but there are a few pros to this place. If I wasn't with 4 kids that are used to camp grounds with more amenities it probably would have been fine. We were in a tent not that close to a bathroom but with family that had a camper so we used their bathroom most of the time. PROS - it's quite - Sites are big. We have a 12 person tent and it's huge. We still had space for our car and to play games - basketball court and volley ball court - small store with camp basics but no extras CONS - the "swimming area" is kind of a joke. The pond is better for fishing than anything else. We didn't rent a canoe but probably would have if the weather was nicer while we were there. - there are only 2 parking spots at the "beach" and when your site isn't close it can be a hike. And uphill. - the playground could some some updating. Its just swings, a sand pit and a climbing thing. Maybe cool for a toddler but not really for older kids. - the basketball hoop could be replaced. It can still be used but it's falling apart. Again, my kids have been spoiled with snack shakes, ice cream, arcades and nice ponds so this was not ideal for kids that are used to that. And it didn't help that it rained a lot when we were here so it made not having those to other amenities more obvious. But if you like the rustic camping and just want a tent in the woods, then you will be fine here!

My theory on the bad reviews: you know when a place is so awesome. You don’t want everyone in the world to find it… like that secret spot in the middle of paradise and if a hundred people showed up it would suck… this campground is that spot. The sites are huge, private, peaceful and beautiful . We walked the roads for an hour and didn’t see half the campground. The staff are friendly and helpful and the sites have full hookups. I never want to leave.
