Inyo French Camp to Tom's Place, California is a scenic drive through the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The route takes you through the Owens Valley, past the Alabama Hills, and up to the town of Tom's Place. Along the way, you'll pass through the towns of Bishop, Big Pine, and Independence, as well as the Inyo National Forest. The drive is approximately 70 miles and takes about two hours. Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Owens Valley, and the Alabama Hills. You'll also have the chance to explore the many outdoor activities available in the area, such as hiking, fishing, and camping.

Inyo/French Camp: RV Camping in Tom's Place, CA

Our family has been coming here for over  20 years and my grandparents were camp hosts in other campgrounds for over 10 years. If you have more than 2 vehicles then you pay each night to park in the extra parking areas. Our second night in the camp ground we received a note “DO NOT PARK HERE!!” As a I walked up to it and saw it the bathroom cleaner was cleaning the bathrooms and said she left the note and was told we can’t park there. We apologized and stated that we spoke to the camp host this morning and were informed differently. She stated that “We were what were wrong with this county and she couldn’t deliver toilet paper this morning” even though her golf cart was already around our vehicle in front of the bathrooms. This was a one year anniversary for my grandparents death and to think this anniversary trip was ruined with this level of unprofessionalism. Not to mention she stated that we would be evicted for asking her questions about why we wouldn’t park where we are. Save your self the headache and stay away from this location!!!!!

Best campsite ever! Site 23 is spacious, bathrooms were always clean. Host is extremely kind and helpful.

Nice clean bathrooms, not too hot, & bugs aren’t crazy. Overall nice and relaxing camping trip. There was a creepy old guy on a golf cart though who would just watch us in the dark which really made us feel all uncomfortable but other than that, good trip.

Great location, nice sites (though a but rocky in some places,) beautiful views and creek, good host.  Right near Tom's Place, for easy access to supplies and the café, if you don't feel like cooking all the time.  Clean flush restrooms but no showers, good quality potable water spigots readily available.  Always a good time here.

This is one of my favorite places to camp. Not too far from civilization, but just far enough to help you relax. No water or electricity hook-ups, but there are plenty of water stations, clean restrooms, and an RV dump station. Campsites are clean and spacious. The camp hosts are nice, too!

Great campsite located near Mammoth Lakes and Bishop. Well established campground with flushable toilets and running water. Check my YouTube out @keychainproduction for a full video review. Concrete picnic tables and a bear box are available in each campsite. Campsite is overall small, only one tent can really fit. Nearby attraction includes Lake Crowley, where I was able to get some good astrophotography shots. Lake Crowley has a beach which is not really trafficked and is pretty private, but it does require some off roading on dirt roads.

Such an awesome campsite. Some reasons why we love it:
-beautiful setting next to creek
-quick drive to incredible hiking options
-short walk from Tom’s place where you can pick up camping items / food
-private campsites, each with fire pit, bear box, and table
-full cell service

We stayed in campsite #81 which was great.

This is my second time camping here, and it never disappoints. The site is always clean, the restrooms are well-stocked (though you need to bring your own hand soap), and the water is always working. Neighbors are respectful and mindful of quiet hours. I've never had issues with bugs, even when camping in late and early summer. Although the site is close to the highway, the noise is minimal—if anything, you'll only hear the nearby creek. It's also a great midpoint between Mammoth and Bishop, where you can explore plenty of outdoor activities. The best part? The stunning stars at night. Also if anyone was concerned about sleeping in their car at “tent only” sites, it’s allowed, for whatever reason some campsites don’t allow it. (This was site 47, site 60 is lovely too!)

We spent four lovely nights at French Camp exploring the plethora of rock climbing in the area. The creek is right behind the grounds and prefect for a soak after exploring. The facilities were really well kept. Our camp host (Steve) went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

Campsite is beautiful and immersed in trees with a river nearby. Bathrooms are single stall with mirrors, lights, and running water. Ceramic toilets and toilet paper is provided but no soap. They have bear lockers at the campsite. Fire pit with griddle that can’t be removed. They sell firewood here for $9 per bundle. Went for Memorial Day weekend and got a reservation easy about 2 weeks prior when everything was booked elsewhere. This is surprising because this campsite was so nice!! The best part - I had service the whole time! Only a few bars but not a problem for some light Googling to learn about the area

Stayed for couple nights with large group. French camp is super clean, restrooms were very clean. Two thumbs up to our hosts Heather and Joe, they were very nice and helpful, They stop by few time to see if everything was fine. Had a great time will definitely be back.
