We did not care for this campgrounds and would not come back. Let me preface that we are not inexperienced campers but we are new to the 395 area. The fee for camping here is more on the high side yet there was a lot of trash in campsites and the beach. There was only one bathroom for every TWO loops and the men's only had one toilet. This meant there were long wait lines and you had to walk to get there. We stayed in Bear loop 15 and the sites there were completely open to each other and super close. So we were just looking at our neighbors all the time. It was awkward. There are a few sites in Bear loop and another that had views of the lake which would have been nice but I'm sure those go quick. You can walk to the beach in 10 minutes but if you want to drive and park the fee is $10. You would think there would be less trash at these prices. Right next door is an rv resort that charges less for tent camping and has guest only showers and laundry. I recommend that place instead. The rv resort does have public showers that oh ridge campers can use. $8 in quarters for 7 minutes. Something else to note that I've learned camping along 395, there are a ton of people camping in July. There are always lots of campers everywhere this time of year but the volume here seems unmatched.

Location is outstanding. Customer service is bad. There are no showers, no electric , water ,or sewer hook up. Dry camping only without showers. There are restrooms. But no electric sockets in restrooms. Camp staff is real pushy. One lady was nice , another lady was just rude and pushy, and the guy coming around before 9 am yelling at all the spots that they have to leave by 12. We know when check out is, you dont have to come 3 hours earlier being pushy about it. An hour before check out he comes back , and also takes away your slip, seems very non hospitable. The beach is a good mile or more hike, and they will not allow you to drive your RV down to the parking at the lake, you jave to walk unless you have a car or truck. So if you have a 20 foot class C, you still have to walk to the lake, which is rather inconvenient. They asked if we would like to stay another night or 2 , and no. Not there. No point. If I have to park and walk to the beach I might as well stay somewhere where there are hook ups and more hospitable. Also, if you are not camping there. It is a $10 fee just to go down to the lake. Beautiful place, extremely beautiful, one of the most beautiful around, but od course man kind has ruined it. But go on and collect that money. Won't be back. The only reason it is 2 stars is because tge location is 5 stars everything else is subpar.

Awesome alpine lake camping. Entrance bottlenecks and can take time to get in, but campsites are clean and bathrooms have flush toilets. After paying for a campsite, you still have to pay to park at the beach and dump your tanks (if in an RV). Seems like you should get those with the site. Head to the dog beach if you want free parking. High clearance vehicle recommended. Overall, this is a phenomenal view and weather is great.

It was very cold and windy that evening when we arrived (in June!). There’s no firewood around—just pinecones—so be sure to stock up on firewood in advance. In the morning, we discovered the beautiful June Lake nearby. The water was very cold, but we bravely went for a swim. We also witnessed some kind of air show—helicopters were either dropping people onto the mountain or evacuating them from there.

To be fair, it was our first visit and we didn't get to explore very much. The campground didn't allow access to the beach. I intended on paying the $10 day access, but we had a busy itinerary and never got the chance. There's only 1 bathroom, 2 stalls, no seat covers, but the toilets do flush. Half the residents don't have bathroom manners and shower at the sink. The bear boxes are a great size to fit everything in. We were fortunate to be able to use the fire rings the whole time. The grounds even provide a bucket for drowning for those who forget theirs. That's about all the amenities I can think of. I'll update when I visit again and actually get to explore the campground.

Nice camp, only thing is the sites are stacked on top of each other, very little privacy.

Well, the weather ruined our stay, as the winds was hauling and rained like crazy, October 2-3. It was subzero temps. Not much to do. Best time to visit here is before/on labor day weekend. Don't recommend beyond that point. It even snowed in Mammoth Mountain during that time!

Lots of pine cone to use for fire burning. Easy access to June Lake. Extra $10 for driving into the lake. Bathroom was clean and had heating so it was great. Good signal for phone.

I came here with my family hoping to enjoy June lake, unfortunately they regulate this campground so much, they make things that should be simple complicated. The staff is very unfriendly and the amount of rules and charges they add on makes it hard to enjoy.

Expensive. The free bathroom at The Silver Lake was better stocked than the bathroom for $46.00 at this campground. Nobody that worked there was friendly and an extra $10.00 to get closer to the beach. They wouldn't even let me go drive and look to see it was worth it. Im disabled with limited walking. I wouldn't choose this campground as my first choice.

Loud party people. Quiet hours not enforced. Rude manger when complaint made. Refund denied. camp sites are littered and touching each other. Very little shade. Cramped small sites. People who never camp anywhere else might think it’s ok but it’s not even like camping.

You'll find yourself thinking "it must be a painting!" over and over. Many gorgeous hikes of various difficulties within 15-30 minutes drive. Or just chill by or in the lake. Less compact if less picturesque than the other campground, a trade off I prefer.

Camp site is a bit tight but doable, weather, fishing and access to other lake are great. Only downside is showers were out during our stay. No worries that we roughed it for 4 days.. highly recommend for families and solo campers

Scouting Water

I stayed here 6 nights. Campsite conveniently located within walking distance to June Lake Beach. Parking is $10 to park near the beach which is not included in the campsite reservation. It's free is you walk to the beach. Campsites are clean, restrooms were clean and heated. Potable running water is available. The campsites are a bit close together depending on the chosen site, and some sites have tree shade while others don't. Camp hosts were very helpful and friendly. I will be staying here again. I had an excellent time.
