J Percy Priest Lake - COE/Anderson Road Campground
Overview
Located along the scenic shores of one of Middle Tennessee's most popular reservoirs, Anderson Road Campground offers a peaceful escape managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This campground is a gem for those seeking a natural setting without straying too far from urban conveniences. With its mix of shaded sites and waterfront views, it provides a tranquil atmosphere that captures the classic Tennessee lakeside camping experience for regional travelers and cross-country explorers alike. It serves as a quiet retreat where the sounds of the water replace the hum of the city.
Location & Surroundings
The campground is situated on the eastern side of Nashville, TN, nestled on a peninsula of the 14,000-acre J. Percy Priest Lake. Surrounded by a dense canopy of hardwoods, the park feels worlds away from the vibrant energy of the city. Travelers will appreciate the easy access to the water's edge, where the limestone bluffs and forested shoreline create a picturesque backdrop for morning coffee. The surrounding geography provides a natural buffer that keeps the sites feeling private and immersed in the local ecosystem.
Amenities & Park Features
RVers will find well-maintained facilities including sites equipped with water and electric hookups, though primitive options are also available for those seeking a more traditional stay. The park features essential comforts such as flush toilets and hot showers, ensuring a convenient stay for families. Each site typically includes a fire ring and picnic table for evening gatherings. Guests also have access to a dump station and a nearby boat ramp, making it easy to transition from the pavement to the waves of the lake.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the lake itself, which is perfect for boating and fishing for largemouth bass, striped bass, or crappie. Just a short drive away, visitors can find the excitement of Nashville Shores Waterpark or explore the extensive hiking and biking trails surrounding the reservoir. Since the park is located only about 15 miles from the city center, guests can easily spend a day enjoying the Grand Ole Opry or the historic Broadway district before returning to the quiet of their campsite by nightfall.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize natural beauty and lake access over high-end resort amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a budget-friendly vacation and National Park pass holders who can utilize discounts at Corps of Engineers sites. Because of its proximity to the city, it also serves as a perfect base camp for travelers who want to balance a Nashville sightseeing itinerary with a serene, wooded environment that feels like a true getaway.

The campground is full of trees, lots of shade and has waterfront spots. However, people don't follow the road signs. Driving the wrong way on a one way. No quiet hour. There was a group of people singing up to midnight and being along the water side it was loud.

Ash is the person in charge. He was kind, discerning, hard enough to keep the bad out. Yet, a soft heart to do good for others. The waterfront sites are wonderful. No raccoons...never expected that before! Wow! Lots of white tail dear. And, cheapest sites for 50 miles around Nashville per my independent research. I wish it was open aaalllll year! The day park was full of large families enjoying time together with fresh meat cooking on the grill, and children laughing. Very pleasant experience. Thank you Ash!!! May your kindness be returned to you.

Ash the new gentleman hosting the campsite is a really great guy. He is running a tight ship and keeping it a family friendly experience. We will definitely be back soon 😊👍

This was a fantastic campground. Army corps did a beautiful job on this one. We had a huge waterfront site and we floated on tubes right from our site #7. Would stay again.

Great ACOE campground conveniently located on the outskirts of Nashville. We spent 2 nights while taking in the city's action. Very clean and well maintained. Ash, the campground host was very professional while also being personable. They do not close the entrance gate at night but do monitor in and out traffic. We experienced no problems.
