Jenny Jump
Overview
Jenny Jump State Forest offers a rugged and scenic escape in the mountains of Warren County. Known for its stunning glacial rock formations and some of the best views in the state, this park provides a tranquil environment for those looking to disconnect. It is less of a luxury resort and more of a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts seeking a peaceful retreat. The forest covers over 4,000 acres of protected land, ensuring that your stay is surrounded by untouched wilderness and deep quietude.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Great Meadows, the park sits along the Jenny Jump Mountain Range, overlooking the lush Kittatinny Valley and the Great Meadows below. The landscape is defined by its unique geological history, featuring massive boulders moved by glaciers thousands of years ago. The forest provides a dense canopy of oak and maple trees that keeps campsites cool and secluded during the warmer months. Its elevation provides a crisp mountain atmosphere that is rare for this part of the country.
Amenities & Park Features
While the park is rustic, it offers essential comforts for RVers who enjoy dry camping and a natural atmosphere. The campground features designated trailer sites that can accommodate rigs up to 28 feet in length, each providing a fire ring and picnic table. Guests have access to modern bathhouses equipped with flush toilets and hot showers, providing a touch of convenience in the deep wilderness. The park is also home to an impressive astronomical observatory managed by local experts, which serves as a unique centerpiece for the facility.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Visitors can explore over 11 miles of rugged hiking trails, including the popular Summit Trail which offers panoramic vistas of the Delaware Water Gap. Ghost Lake is a local favorite for fishing, birdwatching, and quiet morning paddling. On Saturday nights during the season, the United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey offer educational programs at the on-site observatory, allowing guests to view planets and stars through high-powered telescopes. The nearby Pequest Trout Hatchery is also a great educational stop for families located just a short drive away.
Who This Park Is Best For
This forest is ideal for adventurous RVers who prefer a natural setting over high-density commercial resorts. It is a perfect match for stargazers, hikers, and families looking to experience the geological wonders of New Jersey. If you travel in a smaller rig or camper van and value solitude, dark skies, and scenic beauty, Jenny Jump is an exceptional choice for your next outdoor adventure.

Even when the campground is booked solid, it was quiet and relaxing. Quiet hours the weekend we camped we indeed quiet (just the sounds of the crickets). Friendly rangers and well-maintained facilities. Bathrooms are pit toilets, but have running faucets and showers. Lots of bear warnings, so no food in tents or left out

We had a great time camping and hiking to Ghost Lake here. Lots of caterpillars and inch worms to keep the children occupied. Got to see Mars and a few other stars at the observatory before the clouds rolled in. Witnessed a red tail hawk making a defending its nest just outside of our campsite. Park rangers were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the forest.

Took a hike here for the first time. The trails are lovely and there are several scenic overlooks. The cabins and campsites look nice. I will be going back
