We tented in site 78, with a good water view. Close to bathrooms and lake access, 10 minute walk to swimming beach. We did the 10 mile bike ride around the lake, which was great.

Wonderful Sunday. Large, pleasant spaces with natural views. Trails, beach, breakwaters, and everything you need to enjoy a great day of fishing. It far exceeded my expectations.

**Johnson LaLocated just 10 miles south of Lexington, Johnson Lake Recreation Area offers a perfect blend of outdoor activities and relaxation, making it a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts. Spanning 68 acres, the area provides three convenient access points to the expansive 2,068-acre lake, ideal for boating, fishing, and water sports. The campgrounds are a highlight, with spacious, well-shaded sites that offer relief from the summer sun. A paved walking trail connects the campground to the beach and lake, making it easy to enjoy the water. The sandy beach is a favorite for families, providing a safe and fun swimming area for kids. In addition to camping and swimming, visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking, picnicking, and the on-site playground. With its clean facilities, scenic views, and abundance of activities, Johnson Lake is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts.

Driving through Nebraska and decided to stop here so we could get in a quick run and have some lunch. The park did not disappoint. We enjoyed our run and found drivers to be fantastic about sharing the road with us. The breeze off the lake was so refreshing. Afterwards we showered in the facilities (bring quarters) and chatted with other visitors. We saw an owl who squawked up a storm. It was a good day.

Great fishing! Lots of camping options. Roads and waste are well maintained and the lake shores are also very clean. There is a neighborhood on part of the lake and most are friendly but a few seem to not like people with dark skin. Sadly still parts of NE are like this. Still my trip with my son was awesome and we caught huge walleye and cats! Pan fish was hard to find but shiners at an hour or two before sunset was the winner for walleye and huge 30 min fights with catfish! See pics.
