Overview
Overview
Kaibab Camper Village offers a peaceful, rustic escape nestled in the high-altitude forests of Northern Arizona. Unlike busy commercial resorts, this park focuses on providing a tranquil mountain atmosphere that serves as a gateway to the region’s wilderness. Guests enjoy a quiet, shaded setting characterized by tall Ponderosa pines and a slower pace of life, making it a perfect retreat for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Kaibab Plateau.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Jacob Lake, Arizona, near the town of Fredonia, the park is perfectly positioned for travelers exploring the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The location provides a high-altitude climate that stays significantly cooler than the surrounding desert valleys during the summer months. Surrounded by the sprawling Kaibab National Forest, the park offers immediate access to scenic drives, dense evergreen forests, and a sense of remote seclusion while remaining accessible via Highway 89A.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground is designed to accommodate a variety of setups, ranging from tents to large motorhomes. Essential features include full hookup sites and a well-maintained bathhouse facility to ensure comfort during your stay. The park also prioritizes guest convenience with an on-site general store and laundry facilities. Travelers will appreciate the pet-friendly environment, which allows those traveling with animals to enjoy the extensive surrounding trail systems and forest roads together.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for visitors is the proximity to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which offers a much less crowded experience compared to the South Rim. Beyond the national park, visitors can explore the Kaibab Plateau through numerous hiking and mountain biking trails that weave through the forest. Wildlife viewing is a common pastime here, as the area is frequently visited by mule deer and various bird species, providing excellent opportunities for nature photography and peaceful morning walks.
Who This Park Is Best For
Kaibab Camper Village is best suited for nature-focused travelers who prioritize proximity to national parks and outdoor recreation over luxury resort amenities. It is an ideal stop for couples, families, and solo adventurers who appreciate a rustic, quiet environment under the stars. If you are looking for a reliable, forest-bound home base that offers authentic Arizona mountain charm while you traverse the scenic highways of the American Southwest, this park is an excellent choice.

First of all, the staff was amazing—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Every time we called, they answered right away, and they reserved a campsite for us with just our name and no deposit required. The campground is very affordable, costing less than $15 per night. The facilities and the campgrounds are clean and well maintained, including new flushing toilets, laundry facilities, and hot showers. The shower area is separate from the restrooms and has individual shower stalls. Showers operate with quarters ($2.50 for 5 minutes), which is actually a great system to help conserve water and avoid long lines. The only suggestion I have is to provide clearer instructions on the shower door explaining how the system works. Fresh water is available from faucets throughout the campground. The office sells drinks and basic snacks, and they also provide firewood for only $12 per bundle, delivered directly to your campsite. Since outside firewood is not allowed, likely to help prevent fires and the spread of pests, this is very convenient. Campsites include fire pits as well as basic picnic tables with benches. The place is also dog friendly. We were so tired during our stay that we forgot to ask the staff for their names, which is a shame because every single person we interacted with was wonderful. Despite the water-related issues affecting some North Rim campgrounds, this campground was not crowded during our visit. If you plan to stay here, be sure to bring food with you, as the nearest grocery store is more than 30 miles away. There is, however, a small hotel about 6 minutes away that has a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also sell basic snacks, drinks, and pastries. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We would gladly stay here again.

We stayed here for a quick night, we were scouting for camping spots and were about to leave to go for dispersed camping when one of the workers came out and she was like an angel after our long drive. She quickly reserved a spot for us and even made arrangements to deliver the firewood to our campsite so we could set up as it was getting dark. 10/10 service, good facilities (bathroom, showers), would stay here again!

We came to Kaibab Campground by WYLDE for Memorial Day weekend. Last year we came and camped remotely at the north rim. We thought that remote camping would be the best way to get peace and quiet. We were wrong. Kaibab Campground by WYLDE made our camping experience even better this year. They were so welcoming and the location is peaceful and serene. It was just the relaxation we were looking for with great access to the North Rim. The bathrooms were very clean as were the sites. They even let us move closer to our group. We look forward to making memorial weekend at Kaibab Campground a tradition, but plan to not wait a year before we return!

I love this campground and will be returning soon. It is in a beautiful setting close to the Grand Canyon's north rim and surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest. The famous Jacob Lake is actually on the property! The new owners are a young, local family and they are constantly improving and updating the place. Book a stay; you won't regret it!

The Kaibab Camper Village by WYLDE is tucked away just far enough from the highway to turn it into a quiet oasis to enjoy the forests of the North Rim. The campground is under new ownership and I love what they’re doing! Adding services like UTV rentals straight from campground is opening up access to the forests there! Phenomenal team, and even better wilderness retreat! We’ll be going back to escape the heat for some fresh mountain air! 100/10
