Lake Ashtabula - COE/Mel Rieman

Great campground with decent amenities. The sites are a bit tight with only room for one vehicle and a camper or tent. A few of them are awkwardly placed. The beach is a long ways from the camp sites so its best to drive. No fishing pier here, boat ramp has a large open parking area and a great fish cleaning station. Showers are at the end of the campground and adequate.

Nice, smaller campground. There is a nice beach area and playground not far from the camp area. The loop that has sites 15-19 has an awkward route to the dump - you’ll need to travel outside the loop then backtrack going back into the loop to dump. I did not see a shower house. There is a small restaurant near the beach. Travel through the beach parking lot and down the hill to find it.

First time staying at that camp site. We really enjoyed ourselves. very peaceful there. people were friendly and I liked how the camp host came around to check on everyone the evening we had some weather come thru and they wanted to make sure we knew where the safe place was at. and to make sure we knew about the weather warnings.

Nice camping spot. Bathrooms were ok but had some odor because the type of bathroom. Water access, fire pit, and power access. Accessible camp host. Boat ramp access with dock for fishing and cleaning board. Very good separation between sites. We will come here again.

Full disclosure, I am biased because I grew up camping on Lake Ashtabula and Mel Rieman. However, I think anyone with a tent all the way up to a mega RV would enjoy what this campground has to offer. A huge beach, clean facilities and a friendly camp host for starters. Add a nice boat ramp with fish cleaning facilities and plenty of open water for fishing, tubing/water skiing and swimming. The Hungry Pelican offers treats and beverages for both young and old, pontoon rentals and more. Don't even think twice. Book your stay at Mel Reiman Recreation Area. You won't be disappointed.

The camp spots are very generous. Neighbors are not on top of you. Showers and flush toilets were a ways away. There is only electric hook up. Was very relaxing and quiet with the exception of children riding bicycles with noise makers on spokes. As adults, next time I'd choose spots 17, 18, 19, or 20.

Beautiful, small campground right on Lake Ashtabula. Didn't use restrooms or showers, so can't comment on them. Nice area to walk our fur babies and enjoy the outdoors.
