Lake Bluff Campground

Overview

Lake Bluff Campground offers a serene escape in the heart of the Seaway Trail region. Established as a family-oriented destination, the park provides a balance of natural beauty and modern convenience. It serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring the unique geological formations of the New York shoreline. The atmosphere is relaxed, making it a favorite for those looking to swap city noise for the sounds of the woods and Lake Ontario.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just a mile from the shores of Lake Ontario, this campground is tucked away in the quiet town of Wolcott. The surrounding landscape is defined by rolling orchards, lush forests, and the dramatic cliffs of the nearby state park. Travelers will appreciate the easy access to the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, a National Scenic Byway that offers some of the most picturesque driving routes in the Northeast.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped to handle modern RVs with full hookup sites offering both 30 and 50-amp service. On-site recreation options cater to all ages and include:

  • A refreshing heated swimming pool for seasonal use.
  • Family-friendly activities like mini-golf and weekend hayrides.
  • A dedicated catch-and-release pond for fishing enthusiasts.

The grounds also feature a well-stocked camp store and clean bathhouse facilities, ensuring that campers have all the essentials for a comfortable and extended stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The standout attraction is undoubtedly Chimney Bluffs State Park, where massive clay spires overlook the lake. Outdoor enthusiasts can spend their days hiking the bluff trails or visiting the Sodus Point Lighthouse. For those interested in local flavors, the region is dotted with award-winning wineries and seasonal apple orchards. Fishing remains a major draw here, with Lake Ontario providing world-class opportunities for trout and salmon.

This was the perfect place for our first outing in our new (to us) travel trailer. The park is well kept, all the hookups worked. Sites are spaced enough that you aren't on top of your neighbor. There are trees throughout, which makes it much nicer than some of the "parking lot" style RV parks that are out there. Oh, they also have a nice little catch and release pond for fishing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Booking is easier over the phone if you have a specific site in mind, but the call center was also helpful and friendly, making it a breeze to book our stay. The campground is also great in communicating via email before and after your stay. Our kids are grown, so they missed out on the fun stuff that the park has for kids to make it very kid-friendly. Would I stay again? Well, I just reserved the same site for a couple weeks from now :)

This was the worst weekend imaginable. I reserved a cabin online, and received confirmation that I had cabin number 36 for Saturday night. Upon arrival at 4:15, I found a closed office, nobody to answer the phone, and an emergency after hours number with a full mailbox. I went to inspect the cabin, and found it open, but occupied and disgustingly filthy and full of personal belongings. I paid $200 and had no place to stay for my family. The closest room I could find on such short notice was an hour away in Oswego and $300, so it ended up being a $500 night and nobody from lake bluff will return my call or refund my money. Beware.... Don't trust the new ownership of this place and don't make a reservation here without a back up plan and money to waste.

Great location, site very nice, easy to make reservation. Showers were fine a little run down but were pretty clean. Washroom does need a passcode which I didn’t see on the reservation but I may have just missed it. Be sure you ask prior to close if you are getting in late. Would go again for sure!

Love this place! We came from Buffalo to celebrate my 30th and decided to rent the cabin they have here. this place is so quiet and tranquil, exactly what I needed. The beds are cabin beds so obviously they’re not the comfiest, but we all slept well! Cabin comes with a mini fridge, toaster, coffee maker and a microwave. Bathrooms/showers , jump pad and pool are directly across from the site. It was very clean and I would definitely stay here again.

It was a cute campground with lots of cute amenities that are probably great for someone with kids but other than that, the campground, specifically the bathrooms and the cabin we stayed at was kind of run down it was sad. The cabin we stayed at had hair on the beds and bugs on the windowsill. The bathroom also had graffiti and a few of the stalls had bathroom doors that didn’t close well. I will say the frog pond and nature trail was very cute and it added some positivity during our visit.
