We saw some of the bad reviews before arriving to our cabin, and felt apprehensive about what we would get. When we arrived, all of our worries melted away and we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. In particular, we found the cabin to be clean, well equipped, and comfortable. Due to the size of our party, we made use of both the bed and couch bed. As someone who has slept on several couch beds in the past month, this was by far the most comfortable I’ve experienced. The visitor center closes at 5pm, but if you arrive after-hours, they will post check-in information on their front door for you. That said, there is no way to reach the facilities after 5pm (prior to checking in to your cabin). Overall, great accommodations, great views, and would love to visit again soon!

Visited a couple of nights in mid-August. Campground was clean and well kept. Very few campers while we were there. Very quiet and enjoyable. View was great. We had site 9 which had a great view of the river. Beautiful sunsets. A bit buggy at night but it was mid-August, so was expected.

Lake was beautiful. Cabins appeared to be clean but need updated. My niece found a tick and bedbugs in the bed which we let the office know about. Smoke alarm super sensitive. It went off when bread (no butter) was put in the toaster, cooking bacon, and baking croissants in the oven. All done at different times. Spiderwebs everywhere! They could at least be swept down to give a nice appearance. Basketball court extremely small. Pool closed 2 hrs early for no reason; at least none was given. The clerk just said I don't know. Pavilion was nice and playground seemed to be updated. Office clerks were very nice and apologetic.

Besides the fish cleaning station having problems, it is a pretty nice state park. And they always seem to have some problems with the Swarming pool.

Lovely park. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the evening sunset cruise. The park guides were wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly. This park is focused on Lake Chicot and the fishing and exploration of the lake. Cell phone service is poor to very poor. WiFi is available at the bait shop. Be aware that the park is relatively small, and the walking opportunities are very limited. Construction is ongoing for more than half the campsites. The walking trail was partially closed for construction, but the portion that was open was nicely paved and ADA accessible. The pool was closed while we were there and looked like it was in need of some cleaning.

This is a beautiful park with really nice hiking trails and a campground. However, currently, there is a lot of construction going on. I would wait to plan a trip at a later time to allow them to finish the work. Do not take this place off your list, though! It is worth the wait!

We have camped there several times. Right now they are improving camp sites by the cabins. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Have a swimming pool, cabins, play area and we can't wait for the improvements are completed. Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a leash.

Beautiful park. Stunning, actually, but absolutely no cell service inside camper and one bar outside camper. Satellite TV struggled to stay connected to one satellite. Left early because I work and travel and needed Internet connectivity.

I've seen nothing but incredible reviews about this park. But I was sorely disappointed. Most of the campsites were closed permanently, or under renovation. There was recent rain and flooding, so there was standing water everywhere. It was cloudy so we didn't get to see the sunset that I had hoped for. We did some kayaking across the lake and through the Cypress trees, which was kind of cool. But that's always better in the summer if you want to run into wildlife. The lady at the front desk was less than welcoming and barely spoke to us despite our attempts to start conversation.

My grandparents come here multiple time during the year to fish. They have been coming here for many years now. The lake is beautiful and the park is nice. But I wish they would clean up the walking paths. I was going to walk my kids down one that has the steps down to a bridge then back up the steps but it was overgrown. Needs cleaning up. Also wish they would fix up their Geocache box on that bridge. We were disappointed to find it not being maintained.
