Lake Cumberland - COE/Cumberland Point Campground

Overview

Lake Cumberland - COE / Cumberland Point Campground offers a serene retreat on the massive shores of one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the United States. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this destination provides a natural escape where the focus remains on the beauty of the Kentucky landscape. Travelers will find a well-maintained facility that balances the ruggedness of the outdoors with essential comforts for a relaxing stay near the water. It is a quiet destination that emphasizes the peaceful lakeside lifestyle and local wildlife.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled in the town of Nancy, KY, the campground occupies a prime spot on a peninsula of Lake Cumberland. The surrounding area is characterized by dense hardwood forests and a winding shoreline, providing plenty of shade and privacy for campers. Its position on the western side of the lake offers a tranquil atmosphere away from the heavier boat traffic of the main marinas. This scenic location makes it a quiet haven for those who appreciate the sounds of nature and unobstructed views of the water through the trees.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features spacious sites equipped with 30 and 50-amp electric hookups along with water connections, accommodating a variety of RV sizes. Guests have access to a convenient on-site boat ramp, which is a central feature for those bringing their own watercraft to the lake. Standard facilities include a dump station, bathhouses with hot showers, and a playground for families. The campsites are specifically designed to highlight the woodland setting, often featuring level gravel pads and fire rings for traditional evening gatherings under the stars.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Boating and fishing are the primary draws here, with Lake Cumberland famous for its premier striped bass fishing and deep blue waters. Beyond the lake itself, visitors can explore the nearby Pulaski County Park or take a short drive to Somerset for local dining and shopping. A highlight for many is the proximity to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, often called the Niagara of the South, where travelers can witness the rare moonbow phenomenon or hike along the rugged and picturesque Cumberland River trails.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize direct water access and a quiet, wooded environment over high-end luxury resort amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a classic camping experience and anglers seeking a basecamp for a multi-day fishing expedition. If you travel with a boat or simply want a scenic lakeside retreat to disconnect from the digital world, Cumberland Point provides the perfect authentic Kentucky backdrop for your next RV adventure.

granddaughter stayed and everything went good . We have a yearly lot and boat storage at this location. I saw some reviews about Cumberland point that is run by the state on this site. We are off Daws Ridge rd. Very nice place and very quiet. If you are looking for a permanent location this is the place. Shaded and great people camping here.

A shady campground like most are slightly too close but overlooking Lake Cumberland with beautiful sunsets.

There's not enough parking for boats and there are too many golf carts running around.

It's small and very nice. Mature trees and real close to the lake. We would come here again.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights here . Access to the water is easy , boat ramp in campground and this is an out of the way campground run by the Corps. Real nice sites with lake views and clean bathrooms , cell service is spotty but who needs that when you are on the lake .
