Situated in Winchendon, Massachusetts, the park is part of a larger network of protected lands, including the Otter River State Forest and Birch Hill Dam. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense pine forests and rolling hills, offering a scenic backdrop for any road trip. Its location in the Montachusett Region makes it easily accessible for travelers coming from Boston or central New England, yet it feels worlds away from the urban bustle, providing a secluded environment for rest and exploration.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 150 campsites tucked into the forest, catering to those who prefer a more rustic experience. While there are no water or electric hookups at individual sites, the facility provides essential comforts like comfort stations with showers and a convenient dump station for RVers. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, perfect for evening gatherings. The highlight of the park is the sandy swimming beach, which offers a refreshing spot for families to cool off during the warm summer months.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do, from non-motorized boating and fishing on the lake to exploring miles of multi-use trails. The adjacent Birch Hill Wildlife Management Area provides exceptional opportunities for bird watching and wildlife photography. For those interested in local culture, the nearby town of Winchendon offers a glimpse into New England village life, while Mount Monadnock in nearby New Hampshire provides a more challenging hiking opportunity just a short drive across the state line.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for self-contained RVers who appreciate an unplugged environment and do not mind the lack of full hookups. It is a fantastic choice for nature-loving families and outdoor hobbyists who want to spend their days on the water or the trails. One of are favorite campgrounds. Awesome sites, very clean, lots of woods, very peaceful. This was the first time on a lake front site but every site is good. I recommend anyone who loves peace and quiet and really nice sites. Staff was super friendly as well.

So according to reserve America you were allowed to check in at 1:00. I got to the campground at 2 :00 and there was no one there to check me in and there's a note that they would be there at 2:30. They did show up earlier than that but I basically had to sit around. Just waiting to check in. The campground itself was pretty nice. The roads have a rise in the middle so if your car or RV has low spots you kind of have to straddle the middle. The bathrooms are very nice and cleaning and the people were friendly

Lifeguards could care less that there is goose poop all over the beach. No wonder the water had a high bacterial level. I asked for a bucket and they said why bother the geese will poop again tomorrow. So if you own a dog and your dog poops in the yard and you’re having company over, do you clean it up or do you just leave it there cause the dogs gonna poop again? Well That’s exactly what the lifeguard told me. The goose are gonna poop again, so why bother cleaning it up. Because it’s a health hazard and I wouldn’t bring my three-year-old grandson here cause he walked through it and he wouldn’t know any better.

I grew up camping here, then took my kids. The sites are good, as are the restrooms last I went. Some of the best memories of my life were made spending summers there.

When we went it was nice and quiet up there. The beach is clean. It’s sunny on the beach for most of the day. The water is pretty clear. There are lifeguards. They have trash cans and recycle bins. Grills to cook out. The only thing I did not like was the beautiful grassy area had so much dog poop EVERYWHERE!!! The kids can’t play there without stepping in it. Why does nobody clean up their dogs messes. DISGUSTING. Other than that I’ll definitely go back and spend a whole day.
