Lake Frederick
Overview
Lake Frederick offers a serene escape for travelers exploring the southwestern corner of Oklahoma. Managed by the City of Frederick, this 900-acre reservoir serves as a peaceful recreational hub for both locals and visiting RVers. Unlike high-traffic commercial resorts, this park focuses on providing a natural, quiet setting where the focus remains on the beauty of the Oklahoma plains. Visitors often find that the relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to unwind for a few days while enjoying the gentle sounds of the water and the expansive prairie horizons.
Location & Surroundings
Situated approximately 12 miles northeast of the city of Frederick, the park is nestled within a landscape of wide-open spaces and agricultural land. The lake itself is the centerpiece of the area, providing a refreshing blue contrast to the earthy tones of the surrounding plains. Because of its distance from major highways, the site is exceptionally quiet, offering dark night skies perfect for stargazing. The geography is relatively flat, making the park easy to navigate for rigs of various sizes while providing unobstructed views of legendary Oklahoma sunsets.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, catering to those who appreciate a traditional camping experience. The RV area features sites with electric and water hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay without the complexity of a large resort. On-site facilities include a dump station, restrooms, and shower facilities for guest convenience. For those looking to get on the water, the park provides a well-maintained boat ramp and several fishing docks. There are also designated picnic areas and primitive campsites scattered along the shoreline, adding to the rustic charm of the facility.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them busy, as Lake Frederick is a popular destination for largemouth bass and catfish fishing. Beyond the water, the area is home to diverse wildlife, and the nearby Hackberry Flat Wildlife Management Area is a world-renowned destination for birdwatching and nature photography. History buffs can take a short drive into the city of Frederick to visit the WWII-era airfield and local museums. For those who enjoy hiking, the park maintains several trails that wind through the native grasses, providing excellent opportunities for a morning stroll or wildlife spotting.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is perfectly suited for self-contained RVers who prefer natural surroundings over modern luxury amenities. It is a fantastic choice for dedicated anglers looking for easy access to the water or birders visiting the region during migration seasons. If your travel style leans toward quiet evenings by a campfire rather than organized activities and pools, you will feel right at home here. It serves as a wonderful, budget-friendly stopover for travelers crossing the plains who want to trade the noise of the interstate for the tranquility of a lakeside retreat.

Everything was super clean! The host was very friendly! The kids had fun playing on all the playground equipment. We rode dirt bikes on the trails and left straight from the campground. It was super fun! Some spots were challenging but not too bad overall. We highly recommend it for lots of fun!!!

Great small lake. Well maintained and only $22 a night. The boat fee is $5 a day, and the fishing fee is $1 a day. Over 20 50 amp sites.
