Lake Lurleen State Park: RV Camping in Coker, AL

We stayed at Lake Lurene State Park campground on our way to Oxford, MS.  The campground has been beautifully updated with FHU lake-side sites, clean restrooms with showers, and a coin-operated laundry, which we used.  Nicely spaced sites and quiet while we were there.  Will camp here again when we’re in the area.

It's been a long time since I've visited this park so I rented the Maple pavilion for father's day and we really enjoyed ourselves! The pavilion had 5 picnic tables and had 2 restrooms located right there, which was great. One was dirty when we arrived but someone came and cleaned it up. The kids went swimming and fishing. I fired up the grill! It did rain around 4pm but it was over by 5pm.

We rented a tent site. It was very nice well kept and comfortable. Every site has water, a grill picnic table, a concrete slab area.And then a soft wood mulch area for your tent. It was one of the better campsites I have been to in a lot of years. The sandy beach area was quite remarkable. They also rent paddle boats , jet skis , kayaks , and other water sport equipment. The majority of the lake you can fish in. There is no fishing in the swimming area. Overall excellent and peaceful.

They have done a lot of renovations to the park to make it a nice pristine area for families to visit and enjoy.

I have travelled all over the US camping. This is hands down the best. The park is newly renovated, very clean, excellent campsites with views and paved sitting area, clean restrooms, and nice beach area. And lastly great staff!

North east trails are closed but still plenty of trails left to enjoy. Well maintained rolling trails. Must use the temporary parking lot about .3 miles before you get to the main parking area. Trail Forks shows the location of the parking lot.

Was a great stay for us back in 2021. We bought corn for one of the groundskeepers who kept the ducks and geese fed. Small park, but was quiet and relaxing which is just what we needed.

Good park for hiking or camping. You will pay a fee to enter the park. All the park employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. The trails could use more places to rest. The trails are lenghty so take plenty of water and energy snacks with you. A lot of wildlife which was a bonus.

Great for hiking, fishing and camping. Beautiful views of the lake. This location offers different types of boat rentals for your pleasure. Be aware that this campground will be closing as of December 1 for a 100% remodel. Expected to be closed for a year, but hopefully sooner. After these renovations, it will be five stars hands down!

Beautiful park on Lake Lurleen. The one problem we found was that the site is very uneven and were not able to get the rig level. We looked around the campground to find any sites that seemed more level but didn’t see any. Otherwise, it’s a nice place to camp. Very shady sites, so our Starlink didn’t work as well as usual. We had a  full hook up site and everything worked just fine.

This is a very nice park only about 9 miles from Tuscaloosa Alabama. It’s a great place to go hiking, mountain biking, boating and fishing. In the summer they have a nice swimming beach. We spent a beautiful day there today canoeing. The one thing that absolutely drives me nuts about the park however, is that as you drive in the entrance, the first thing you see is a line of recreational vehicles. It is so ugly! Why do they need to be parked here? If they have to rent out a place for these RVs, I wish they would do it a little bit out of sight. Otherwise, this is a very nice park, and they rent kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes. Those are very popular. The price was right. Normally it is four dollars a person, or two dollars for seniors.
