cuz why
Campground was decent, a little buggy where I was at. Camp host was nice and helpful. There is a train that goes by, so expected train horns off and on overnight. Site 40/41 has a nice view of the lake.

The train. My god the train. It went by every single hour from 9pm-4am. I will not return to this camp because of the train. I thought the moonlight was so bright until I left my tent and realized it was the floodlights from the train tracks. Chuck the camp host was great and I basically had the place to myself. Very clean and well maintained.

Very far from the water right now as the levels are super low. Beautiful site and super clean. If you want a hike to the water for activities this isn't the spot right now. If you want a good place to camp and have some outdoor chill time this place is perfect. Chuck was our camp host and he is super knowledgeable and kind!!

We camped here with our little kids and there was a train somewhere close that comes by extremely frequently at night. We ended up leaving after just 1 night due to the train. Otherwise the camp site was fine enough and we enjoyed the beach that was close by, but we did have to drive to it.

Visited pre season and had a pick of FCFS sites. Chuck is a friendly host. Many sites are 90° back ins. There are a few at an angle. We endured a pretty nasty storm, but stayed safe.

We have come every year for the past 60+ years. My father way longer than that as he is 70! The whole entire fam comes! We nearly take up the while loop! Its obvious as the years of adventure here will become a tradition for those who experience this wonderful Man-made lake, as you will ve amazed of the amount of beach and beatiful waters! A must see

This is a gem. I made it before season hit so there was nobody else there except for me and the camp host, Chuck. He's an AWESOME guy!!! Ask to see the mountain lion picture he took near site 99!

If you’re going to camp, avoid the north side (we stayed at CV) of the lake unless you’re okay hearing trains pass through and honk every 20 minutes throughout the night. Check a map of the lake for tracks when booking a site! Otherwise, the lake is beautiful with some more private parts of the beach but not many threes throughout the shoreline.

We have been coming to Lake Mac for 8 yrs, twice a year and always stay at Cedar View. Our camp host Chuck is one of the best we've ever come across. He's not only knowledgeable of the area he is also friendly and helpful to everyone. Can't imagine our stays here without him. Thank you Chuck for your assistance and friendship to our fave destination every year!!

Great campground! Loved the trees. It’s so peaceful here. The caretaker Chuck is awesome. Within 10 minutes he drove up and asked if our water hose was long enough, it wasn’t. He loaned us a long hose and hooked it up for us. It’s so quiet and clean here. We will be back!

We arrived to our spot and it started raining very hard our campsite flooded out, the host asked us if we wanted to move to a better location and we took him up on his offer. Thumbs up for the camp host he was amazing and great with the kids. See ya next year

Awesome, friendly and diligent campground host. Lovely camp sites. Good shade. Great access to lake beaches. We had such a good time on our 5 night vacation there. There is a train track nearby with a busy train schedule which you can hear clearly day and night, but all campgrounds on the north shore of lake Mcconaughy are fairly near the tracks.

We were traveling across the state and still several hours from home. Decided to do a tent camping layover here. I saw good reviews of the place, and claims of white sand beaches and I honestly was skeptical but decided we needed a place to stay so we picked this site based on decent google reviews. I have to say the beaches were amazing!! The sand looks like Caribbean or Mexico beaches and the water is so clear and beautiful. The campground was clean and well kept. The host was helpful. It wasn’t super crowded (weds night). You can drive on the beach, and you can camp on the beach. I didn’t get to fish but there looks like good fishing there. The park visitors center has lots of cool displays and a tank of local fish, the kids really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this camp ground!
