We needed a place to stop driving cross Kansas and I remembered this State park from childhood, so we decided to park here with our camper van. Everything about it was great. It was clean, it was convenient, it was beautiful!!!!

I didn't even know this park was here until I was looking for camping near Monument Rocks. Gorgeous park in Kansas' badlands, mere miles from Monument Rocks and Castle Rock. Park has its own striking sets of bluffs, a spring-fed lake, and excellent dark skies at night for stargazing. Park also has TWO different historical buildings, including a ruin which is the earliest known building in Kansas (a four hundred year old Pueblo which is the furthest northeast of its kind). Very much enjoyed falling to sleep by the lake under the stars listening to the crickets and coyotes. I did wake up at 2 AM to the sound of raccoons breaking into my Jeep for a mostly empty bag of cheez-its, but that's on me.

This was my second time at the historical Lake and state park. Went back because it's a favorite of mine so far. Great hiking trails, swimming area, and kayaking are some of the best I've seen since my move to Kansas.

An unexpected oasis in western Kansas! My previous experience with this part of the state was a stinky stay in Garden City so this gem surprised me. We booked our campsite online and decided once arriving to move to a different site. The staff kindly allowed us to move at no extra charge. We kayaked the lake and as far as we could go up the creek. The water was so clean! We happily spent a day exploring the Western Vistas Scenic Byway. Park was clean and well patrolled. Amenities were clean. We will be back!

This is quite literally an oasis in the middle of Western Kansas. All around are flat plains & farm or range land. Then you drop into the Scott City Lake, and it's an entirely different ecosystem. A GREAT place to stay while visiting the nearby geologic & historic sites. Highly recommend, we visited in mid May 2025 and the weather was beautiful. I would imagine given its high desert attributes that the best time to visit is spring & fall, however there are very shady and beautiful spots to camp year-round.

Highly recommend. Just about every tree has its own charcoal burner. Good crappie fishing... game wardens roam this area often

We had an extended stay here & 20 days went by so fast and peaceful. Clean and quiet camping except on weekends you can find sounds of love and laughter from all the families meeting up to make memories in this beautiful park. Our camp host Pam Murphy when over and beyond to accommodate us; couldn’t ask for better people to represent this gorgeous fresh Lake & recreation area. The pictures don’t do it justice to be completely honest. You best bet if we need a place to stay again in Kansas we will be coming back here.

We are staying in the Circle Drive Campground with electricity and water. Dump site available down the road. Two shower/bathrooms are available. One with a separate women’s and men’s. I personally like the unisex facility as you have your own space with a lockable door. This is a pretty little lake with a small area designated for swimming and two spots with playground equipment. We have taken advantage of visiting Little Jerusalem Badlands and Monument Rocks. So worth it. We would definitely come back to this site.
