Beautiful area in general and great beach, I wish there were even more substantial trails so you could do some real hiking here, but it’s mostly designed for camping by the lake.

Nice campground. Lots of campers. Kind of tight. However I was tent camping in lot 133. Well visiting my son and his family. It was a very very large space. Double the size of the camper lots. Perfect. We had a great time. The grace is amazing. The water is beautiful. Bring water shoes. It’s very rocky. They have an ice cream store. Lots of kids. Not a place for older campers looking for peace and quiet away from kids and bikes and scooters.

Beautiful view of Lake Huron, but the beach is very rocky and difficult to walk on/get into the water. The campground sites are pretty tight with not a lot of trees. The snack shop serves ice cream which was nice. They have an area near the beach for painted rocks which was a hit with the kids.

Had great quiet time at this park. We were on site 353. This section has large lots. Nice view of the woods. Had great neighbors. This campground is one of our favorites

The campground can be very busy and crowded, but some of the outside campsites are pretty spacious. I stayed at campsite 32, and it was a very large site. None of the campsites really have any privacy. The restrooms/showers were clean and functional, and the campground store is convenient (although naturally overpriced). Real early on Tuesday morning, they were cutting the grass of empty campsites, which was very loud, but I guess the grass needs cut at some point. The beach is very long and a mix between rocks and smooth sand, and the water was very clean. Even when the beach is packed, there's plenty of space. The only annoyance is that there were tons of dogs on the beach, even though it is posted that animals aren't allowed on the day-use beach. And, having to park on the opposite side of the highway to walk to the beach was a rather long walk while carrying all of your beach things. It isn't the best beach compared to some up north, but as far as Metro Detroit beaches go, it might be the best and well worth visiting for a daytrip.

Nice size sites. Clean bathrooms/showers. Good water. Lots of trails, sandy beach, beautiful rocks, lots of trees.

We were there the day after a holiday weekend. The bathrooms were clean and fully stocked. The beach was clean. Beautiful place to spend time. Unfortunately there is poison ivy everywhere. Be careful

Nice park on Lake Huron. The beach is mostly rocks but there are a few Sandy areas. It’s clean. Campground is pretty strict with visitors and doesn’t seem to allow any flexibility for walk-ins even when there are no shows.

Great for a wintertime visit although parking area closed. Walked through campground to get beach access Visited on "ground hogs day" afternoon and had a mix of cloudy and sunny conditions. It started to "blizzard" as we were leaving. Lots of good rocks for collecting. Many fossils and banded rocks. Can't wait to come back in the summer.

Being a westsider I prefer my sunsets over the lake instead of sunrises..... Except, These! Lake Huron is a pretty magical place with many moods. Within 6 hours it can go from glassy, creamy waves to violent surf pounders. I only wish I had a cottage to observe it all. One of the unique parts of this state park are the colored rocks, both natural and human-made. Definitely check it out! The only issue I have is that while there are paths to walk they are extremely limited. The park is small and if you're going to go out for a fun time you have.......few options.

Fantastic state camping site. Easy access to water front and the view is amazing. Facilities are very clean and well maintained. We didn't visit but the site has a convenience store as well. Friendly staff. We really enjoyed the 1 night we camped. We will definitely plan to come back!

There are a few things that I wish the campground would change, but overall I liked it and would visit again. The Bad: the biggest thing I wish they would change is the setup of the dump/water fill station. There is only 1 (with spots for 2 RVs at a time) for both the campgrounds to use. Over 300 campsites and no full hookups, so that seems a bit ridiculous. If you are in the south campground, you have to go up to the north campground to get water, then come back to the south campground. If you are just getting water you DON'T need to follow the crazy route through the north campground, just go straight there and get water. To dump, they have created a route that goes through the north campground to line up. I understand why they did it (to form one line, and allow people who don't need to dump to exit the other side) but it just seems like the worst way to handle it. I went by bike to check out the line before we were leaving and it was 21 campers long, and that blocks everybody with sites along the route from leaving! At the very least, I think they need to change a few of the jug filler stations in the south campground to have spigots you can screw a hose on, so people can fill their water tanks in the south campground. (This would also help prevent e. coli from the idiot we saw using the potable water to rinse out his sewer hose!) Another issue is there is only one host, only in the north campground. I think they need to have one in the south campground, and honestly with the size of the north campground they could easily have a second one on the other side. Also, they have a nice new shower/bathroom facility in the south campground, but they close the whole thing for cleaning (and they seemed to have just hosed it down and not actually cleaned it!) and hang up a sign saying to use the bathrooms in the north campground! Are you kidding?? I mean, maybe if you had a kid about to have an accident they would let you use it, but still, it's a bit ridiculous to tell people to go to the bathroom half a mile away (not everyone has a separate vehicle, and if you gotta go, you gotta go!) I have T-Mobile, and I only had service at the beach. Otherwise my phone either had no service, or thought I was in Canada. The Good: the sites are spacious, especially in the south campground. They have 50 Amp sites (whole south campground, plus some in the north). The camp store is quite nice, and they have ice cream. Both campgrounds have foot paths to the beach, plus paths connecting the two campgrounds through the woods. The beach is rocky, but the rocks are mostly smooth and round, so you could definitely swim here (bring water shoes). Great for rock hunting/rock painting. They had rock painting with the camp hosts, plus several other free activities the weekend we were there. As I said, I would definitely come back here, I think it might be nice to try one of the sites in the north campground that are closest to the lake. I would definitely be very hesitant to stay in a site along the "dump route" (even in a tent it has to be awful with all the campers blocking you in). Maybe midweek doesn't have too many people leaving at once...

The campground was clean and well kept. No issues with noise or other campers. Staff at the camp store was not very knowledgeable when asked about trails to get to the beach.....very easy to figure out on my own anyway.

Clean, well maintained Michigan State Park. Full electrical and sewer hookup but water has to be carried in or filled up on site. Beach access is close and easy to get to. Beach is also well maintained. There is an on-site store where you can get snacks and common camping supplies. Easily accessible from anywhere in the tri- county area.
