Le Fleur's Bluff

Overview

Le Fleur's Bluff State Park offers a unique blend of scenic natural beauty and urban convenience right in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. Spanning over 300 acres, this state park provides a lush green escape from the surrounding cityscape. It is named after Louis LeFleur, a French-Canadian explorer who established a trading post on the banks of the Pearl River in the late 1700s. Today, it serves as a tranquil retreat where visitors can reconnect with nature while staying centrally located near the state capital's various cultural and historical landmarks.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated along the banks of the Pearl River, providing a serene waterfront environment that feels miles away from the city. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, mature hardwood forests, and the peaceful Mayes Lake. Its central location in Jackson makes it an ideal basecamp for travelers who want to explore Mississippi’s capital city without sacrificing the peace of a wooded campground. The proximity to Interstate 55 ensures that the park is easily accessible for large rigs and passing travelers looking for a convenient overnight or multi-day stop.

Amenities & Park Features

RV travelers will find a well-maintained campground featuring 28 campsites with full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewer connections. The park offers a variety of recreational amenities designed for outdoor enthusiasts, such as a nine-hole golf course and a popular disc golf course. Families can enjoy the multiple picnic pavilions and modern playground facilities. For those who enjoy the water, Mayes Lake provides opportunities for fishing and boating, while the bathhouses offer clean and accessible facilities for all overnight guests staying in the park.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the most significant draws of Le Fleur's Bluff is its proximity to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Children’s Museum, both of which are located within the park’s boundaries. These attractions offer educational exhibits and interactive displays that are perfect for visitors of all ages. Additionally, the park features several nature trails that wind through the woods and along the lake, offering excellent birdwatching and photography opportunities. The nearby Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum also provides a fascinating look into the region's rural history and heritage.

Nice quite small campground. Located adjacent to the children's science museum and just across the highway from the ag museum. Older state park. But grounds are well cared for. No sewer.

Loved the trails! I only gave 4 stars because the fact I was confused about where my dog could go. I had to bring him back home and then go back to finish the trail. Had a great time with my daughter 😄

So far so good! Terrible holes on the roads in and out and the traffic from the interstate is LOUD. Our site doesn’t have a bbq pit. Friendly staff, quiet during the day oh and misquotes are HUGE and hungry. Lots of places to fish and 2 boat launches. Piers are nice and the deer are out daily.

It is rare that my beautiful bride is off on a Saturday so, we took advantage of it and rode the museum trail. Very nice bike ride, I highly recommend.

Nice shaded SP. Over half of the sites back up to the lake with excellent views. It has one washer and dryer at $2 each. Spot 15-17 are big rig friendly ( 45'). However, 17 has a low spot that accumulates water and stays wet.
