Lone Duck Campground

Had such a great time when we went. The entrance turn is a bit hidden so watch where you’re going. They have a pool, bathroom/shower combo, arcade games ($0.50-$0.75), laundry room, dishwashing area, store, and the campsites also have water spickets in the area. There’s a playground and fishing pond that they stuff with fish so you’re guaranteed to catch something. There’s a stream behind some spots. Staff was so wonderful and friendly. There was a bear during our time there but as long as you threw your trash away every night and didn’t leave food items out or in your tent you shouldn’t have any issues. They have a seating area and it has tables, booths, and outlets to charge your items. They also have hot water, free coffee (bring your own cups and creamer for better results), and a microwave and toaster/air fryer combo. This place is awesome and we are already booking our next trip as I type this.

Nice campground with good service. Swimming pool very clean and warm which they cover every night. Very convenient location to move up or down the mountain. Entrance and exit can be difficult because the highway median blocks travel directions but we got used to it. Highway noise did not bother us at all and we had the closet two sites to the highway which quites down after ten. Only complaint is the mens room needs more lighting to shave with.

We stayed at Lone Duck Campground in early July 2026 during a cross-country road trip. We only planned to stay one night, but we loved it so much we changed our plans and stayed a second night. They were able to accommodate us, and it was absolutely worth it. This was one of our favorite stops of the entire trip. It felt incredibly family-friendly, relaxing, and welcoming. My mom, my 9-year-old son, and I all had a wonderful time. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought into creating a campground where families naturally gather and kids can safely make friends. Highlights: About 10° cooler than Colorado Springs, which made sleeping with our van windows open so comfortable. Great location—close to the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Cheyenne Canyon, Woodland Park, grocery stores, Walmart, and Starbucks. Private stocked fishing pond ($8 per fish caught), fish cleaning station, playground, pool, arcade, laundry, hot showers, camp store, dishwashing station, dump station, cabins, RV and tent sites, complimentary morning coffee and hot water, and an indoor gathering space with charging stations. Wi-Fi reached much of the campground around the center. If internet matters to you, I'd recommend reserving a site closer to the middle. The creek running behind many campsites was beautiful, and falling asleep to the sound of the water our second night was one of my favorite parts of the stay. Things we especially loved: The fishing pond was a huge hit with my son. Since it's stocked, kids actually have a good chance of catching fish. He caught three rainbow trout and was thrilled. The playground and pond created a natural gathering place where kids spent hours playing together. My son quickly made friends and hardly touched the arcade after spending his first $10. The showers always had hot water with great pressure, and I appreciated not needing quarters. The laundry worked perfectly, and the complimentary coffee each morning was a thoughtful touch. One afternoon I worked from the indoor seating area while watching my son play outside through the large windows. It was one of those simple moments that made the campground feel like a little community. The staff and camp hosts were genuinely friendly and always happy to answer questions. A couple minor downsides: The campground is close to the highway, so you will hear some traffic. Honestly, it bothered me far less than I expected. Nights were surprisingly quiet—I only remember hearing one motorcycle our second night. If you're in one of the creek-side campsites, the view across the creek looks onto neighboring homes rather than forest. One homeowner also yelled at my son while he was standing on the campground side of the creek looking at the water. It was an awkward moment, but it wasn't the campground's fault and certainly didn't outweigh everything else we enjoyed. Overall, we absolutely loved Lone Duck Campground. It's clean, thoughtfully designed, very kid-friendly, and in an excellent location for exploring the Colorado Springs area. We came expecting one night and left wishing we had booked even longer. We'd happily stay here again.

Great spot! This place is great with kids and really pretty at sunset. We got a cabin and it was perfect, little fridge worked great and small microwave. The facilities were clean and very friendly staff. The pond was great easy catching beautiful trout. The pool was clean and lots of fun for the kids. Overall we had a great time!

We took our five kids here and this is one of the best experiences we've ever had as a family. They fished non-stop, played on the playground, explored the campsites, and just had a wonderful time. Highly recommend! We booked an RV through outdoorsy and the RV owner was Taylor Ness. That made the experience amazing.

I would not stay here again. The spots are so tight you're right on top of each other. Spots are also very tiny in general. We were sitting around the fire just talking (we had a bigger group that took up 3 spots - 15 people in total 9 or which were kids all ages). They felt the need to remind us 40 minutes before quiet time about quiet time - we were already working on it - I don't need mommed while I'm camping. We had the kids in bed and asleep by 10pm while we sat around the fire chatting until around midnight. The next morning we got told we were way too loud disrupting the campsite and "partying" - that's hilarious to me because we are not a partying group nor did we do anything other than sit around the fire and talk. We didn't rave or act routy... We sat around the fire talking.. They reminded us of quiet hours but said we aren't expected to be in bed by then - so what do you expect people to do if we can't sit around the fire and chat without being accused of "partying". The only reason I gave two stars vs one is because the staff was nice and respectful. We will not be staying there again nor would I suggest to anyone.

The campground itself is really nice and love the staff. Very friendly! The only reason for dropping a star- is the noise from the highway. I imagine if you’re not tent camping, it’s not a problem. Kept me up nearly all night. Fountain creek running behind the campground was nice too, kids enjoyed playing in it. You can ignore the owners signs on the other side of the creek that say “no trespassing in creek”. Fountain creek is a public waterway and they have no rights to keep people out, just be respectful and don’t go up on the property on the other side. Tent sites are also super close together- the map is a bit misleading and definitely outdated. I chose site 28 specifically because the map shows it closed off by trees/bushes from the other sites. Not the case as there is nothing separating them. Definitely wouldn’t mind staying here again, it just won’t be in a tent.

Campground is conveniently located to Garden of the Gods. I camped here in June for one night while passing through. Staff was friendly, however, I was not impressed with this campground's cleanliness or organization. Upon check in, another guest had their tent set up in the site I had reserved. The employee fortunately had another site available for me to go to instead. Note - The tent sites that allow camper vans are very small and not well marked. The loop is essentially a dirt circle with a couple site numbers in the ground and picnic tables. When I went to use the sinks up front labeled for dish-washing, I found one sink clogged and filled with water, and the other sinks (both fish cleaning area and dish-washing sinks) filled with fish guts making the entire area smell. The bathrooms were somewhat clean, but the showers were quite dirty. I hoped that this was all just because it was later in the evening. Unfortunately the dish-washing sinks and bathrooms were the exact same in the morning when I went to wash dishes from breakfast. Nothing appeared to be cleaned overnight as most campgrounds do. While this campground is convenient to Colorado Springs & other tourist spots, I would recommend staying somewhere else and avoiding this campground due to a lack of cleanliness, organization, and poor quality campsites.

Great little family oriented campground 15 minutes away from Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Manitou, Old Colorado, etc. Heated pool, fishing pond, retro arcade, and playground. 24 hour showers, laundry, and access to microwave for those tenting. RV sites are a little tight, but not terrible for 35' and under. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great little gift shop with most staples and fun souvenirs. It's perfect for every age. Price point was good, especially with all the amenities they provide. Felt like we were camping with a bunch of friends and family even though we're from way down in Texas.

The name says it all. This is a campground. Do not expect level sites or paved parking. Everyone had a great time. Awesome service and more than adequate facilities. The pool was clean, maintained several times a day, and very popular with the kids. Also the playground with swings and large wooden structure was always busy. There also is an outdoor dish washing station. The store was well stocked with reasonable prices given the location. If you like a rustic environment with city amenities you will love Lone Duck Camoground.

I'm fairly new to campgrounds and camping, but have had some experience. The space for your camp is pretty small, but mainly because you have to be able to fit your car there mostly. If there were somehow a parking area or lot it would help with having more room for tents. I felt uncomfortable being so near other campers as the first family we were by did not respect other campers at all. Loud until midnight, letting their children run through our camp. The office does let you know to call in case of situations like this. As we were about to call, the family finally went to bed. I am thankful there are showers and bathrooms, and the water was hot. The bathroom stalls are weirdly close to the toilets where I almost felt squished, but it was manageable. I did see a sign for a bear on the loose, and I hope it can be humanely transported elsewhere. There is a rooster nearby which likes to let you know to wake up right at 5am. The highway is near as well and you can hear the trucks and cars.

We recently stayed for 4 nights at this Campground. What Jewel of a place. Check in was fast & efficient. We were in Site #2. Nice. Full hook Up. This place is located in just the right location. Great for Day trips. Office Staff was very knowledgeable & friendly. I will definitely stay here again. Right next to highway but, the Mountain Views make up for it. The only downside was, The Duck was nowhere to be found. Nice place for family adventures. I wish I could give it 10 Stars.

Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Right near Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Ww stayed at the site between the pond and the stream. It was private and safe. The campground is literally right off the highway, which is convenient, but less tranquil when you hear the traffic rolling by. Not a complaint, just felt it was worth mentioning. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The amenities are everything. They have one of the cleanest and best maintained swimming pools I have seen. The kids were delighted to spend their time swimming, playing at the arcade and riding their bikes around. The grounds are rigorously maintained and the staff are very courteous and engaging. I would absolutely stay here with my family again.
