I honestly did not enjoy Madison CG very much. The sites are located very close together with little to no foliage for privacy. The campground is also located next to the Madison junction, which is possibly the busiest entrance in the summer, and in my experience you can hear the vehicles passing. I enjoy going to sleep early and getting up early to beat the crowds and I wasn't able to sleep well due to constant noise and bright lights in nearby campsites.

Madison Campground Madison Campground is a peaceful and scenic spot in Yellowstone, offering majestic views of the Madison Valley and frequent bison sightings. It’s also just a short drive to the West Entrance—the fastest way to exit the park—and the area has plenty of great restaurants for dining. While showers are not available at the campground, you can find them at Canyon Village or Old Faithful (about 30–40 minutes away). The campground is well-maintained and makes an excellent base for exploring Yellowstone’s western and central regions. Consider visiting Gibbon Falls and Artist Paintpots as well which are at a short distance between Norris and Madison.

Madison Campground is a great place to set up camp for a week at Yellowstone. Very clean, Heated bathrooms with flush toilets, a fully stocked camp store centrally located are great. There is also a 4 bay dump station on site. The campground itself is essentially in the middle of the 2 loops of the park, so all areas can be reached after a short drive. Since we came in from the west, it was also convenient for us entering and exiting the park.

We used Madison Campground as our base camp for 5 days. It was great, the park staff was amazing. Only complaint was the LOUD family that had kids running and screaming all night long, until about 3am then again at 6am. The early time was no problem since we are up in the park early but would have been nice to not have such inconsiderate neighbors. Not the park’s fault.

This campground is very busy. Campsites are very close to each-other but overall it wasn’t super loud. Bear box firewood and ring available. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were close by and clean and had dishwashing station. Wish the lights were motion-censored at bathrooms or dimmer to help with the stargazing bc the skies were so beautiful.
