We did not stay here, but we did use this location to start gaze and it is an excellent location. There is limited light and there different areas to sit and watch the stars. This was an amazing experience, for a family coming from a big city location and we hardly see stars.

The Dark Skies star party was a great addition to our Big Bend itinerary. Bill is enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the whole experience was a treat. Thanks Bill!

Very remote location with a great view of the night sky. As with most southwestern RV parks as one was gravel. Be careful turning in the entrance if you're driving a 45' class A - Our rock guard was crushed upon entering. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I stayed at the RV park recently to do Astrophotography. Only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is they are sensitive of ambient light, but there was super bright lights coming from the rear of Rooms 9/10 that was obstructing viewing at the telescope pads. You’d think they would have darkening shades on these rooms.

A very affordable place to stay in Marathon. Bill did an excellent job with the star party. Campers driving around were a nuisance with their headlights. I stayed only 1 night, Thursday, because there was a wedding that weekend and fully booked. So call before you reserve online to learn of any similar (possible loud party) events. The one bed room was small and “rustic” with no fridge or microwave. No snacks or breakfast at the office (which is fine, just get them beforehand). If you like to take videos of trains (a.k.a. Railfanning) it’s a good locale as you can see the signals turn for an upcoming train. You can quickly go across the highway for a good shot. Clerks were friendly. I’ll stay here again.

We happen to change our route on 5/30/2022 and passed by the town of Marathon, TX. We called in a few hours before arrival to make reservations. The park has level sites, pull thru, FHU, easy access to US 90, Passport America. Also, it is close to Big Bend National Park. A special feature, which we were informed after checking in, was a nightly star gazing party, weather permitting. The hosts, Bill and Andy, were fantastic. They explained things about the night sky, the stars, and the seasons, among other things. We will definitely be back.

Fun place to stay! Staff was super friendly. Court Yard is amazing! Star gazing was fantastic and awesome, great facilitators! Learned so much about the heavens! Really enjoyed my stay!

We stayed in the RV Park. No frills, but all we needed. Noticed lots of improvements to facilities. Nightly star parties are a unique treat.

We camped at the RV sites along the front of the place in the 30 amp area. Huge downside for us was the bathhouse, far, far, away with one commode and one shower for each side to be shared with the whole campground. The town of Marathon is pretty cool. It's 40 minutes to Big Bend, which is about as close as you can get to camp outside the park. The campground held a nightly star watching gathering with a real astrophotographer and huge telescopes. Made the bathroom issue less important.

Love this place. I have stayed many times over the years en route to Big Bend. Friendly owners and staff and a very good vibe overall. Good for a motel stay or tent camping. Thanks for the hospitality 🙏
