Nice federal campground. Sites are somewhat close together and the tow path is in view so not very private. Many of the sites have shade. Non-potable water available in season at a manual pump, the sign says to filter or boil water before consuming. There is only one way into the park which has a tunnel with a clearance of 10'3" so no big rigs. This park is on a wide, calm section of the Potomac with lots of boat activity. Swimming at your own risk. No trash receptacles so take all your trash with you. Bring firewood, not much downed wood to be had. One group site is available which looks very nice. We enjoyed our time here and would come back.

A hidden gem. When you pull through the tunnel & come out on the other side to a green, park-like area, boat launch, & parking lot it's a surprise. The campsites are decently sized n run along either side on the single lane road that leads back to a single, large, group campsite. Sites have a picnic table, fire ring, and standing grill box. One side of the road is waterfront but all sites have a view of the River. There's a water pump & 2 port-a-pots mid-camp & a single Handicap latrine at the boat launch parking lot, all were very clean when we were there. Just on the other side of the tunnel before you come in is a local that sells firewood n will deliver it to your site for a fair price. This is my 3rd yr camping here with our Boy Scouts & we always have had a positive experience. Do note that the trains run during the night and sound as though they are running THROUGH your tent, lol.

Great campsites on the bank of the Potomac and right next to the C&O canal towpath. $10 a night, porta potties and water are provided. A picnic table , fire pit and charcoal grill in each campsite. So much wildlife, owls, woodpeckers, cormorants. Even a boat launch. There's a sweet couple who sell firewood and deliver it to your campsite, look for the phone number before the entrance.

Nice place to camp. There are trains on both sides of the Potomac river so if you’re good with that then you’re set. Camp sites are close so your neighbors are everything. Restrooms are clean. Some campsites are better than others you will have to gauge for yourself. Well worth the adventure. Second time here. Will be back.

It's on the river. It's quiet and very pretty this time of year. There is potable water by a hand pump for cooking and cleaning just bring something to put the water in. We used a empty 5 gallon water bottle. We're on the group camp site that can fit 30 people there is only 15 of use so there is a lot of space. The single camp sites are nice to. There are sites with small campers on it and still plenty of room.

Creepy spot away from everything. Bring a bunch of friends cause it's safer in numbers.

Just go somewhere else. Train tracks next to campsite and across the river. Train horns and screeching breaks all through the night make you want to rip your ears off so you can sleep. If you don’t like to sleep or hard of hearing, this place is not bad.

Nice and quiet spots. Pump water and drop toilet as well as port-a-potty. Each spot has a table and grill. Reservation is online.

Nice campground. Good for hiking or canoeing. Porta potty available. Moderately clean. As the source of water, there is a hand pump. Don't forget to bring insect repellent cream.

Nice campground. Sites are right by the river, although only Sites 1 and 3 actually have direct water view - the others on the water are too overgrown in the summer. No access to the river directly from campsites, but the nearby boat ramp is well maintained (albeit steep). Each site has a fire ring, a separate grill, and a picnic table. The campground has one vault toilet that is intermittently cleaned, plus port-a-potties. There is a potable water pump that works sometimes but is horribly loud (especially when your site neighbors use it at 5 am…), so best to bring your own water along with your own toilet paper. Easy enough to do, since you can pull your car right up to your campsite. Lots of river traffic during the day and early evening, as a gathering spot for boats is located just north of the campground. Trains pass on both sides of the river, and they can be pretty loud. It doesn’t last long, though. Easy access to the C&O Canal towpath, perfect for a hike or to bike. Easy access to the river for fishing and boating. There appears to be no on-site registration for the campground. Make reservations online at Recreation.gov.
