Meaher Spanish Fort AL is a historic site located in Baldwin County, Alabama. It is the site of a Spanish fort built in 1780 by the Spanish Governor of West Florida, Bernardo de Galvez. The fort was used to protect the area from British and American forces during the American Revolution. The fort was named after the Meaher family, who owned the land at the time. Meaher State Park RV Camping in Spanish Fort, AL

Decided to stay one night while enroute to St. George Island.  Park is very clean, sites are nice size, very level.  We enjoyed a stroll on the boardwalk and saw an alligator eating its dinner. Showers/restrooms are clean. Each site  has picnic table and grill, with full hook ups.

For our girls trip, we found this park to tent camp while visiting the Mushroom Festival in Fairhope.  We stayed at campsite 33, which is just steps from the water and has a little bench under a tree to sit on to enjoy the view of the Bay.  There are water and electric at each site. The people here are so friendly and the facilities are clean.  There is a coin laundry area, a kayak drop-in & rental, and a dock to walk out on to fish or just enjoy the view! Not every site has tree coverage so make sure if you want to have a couple of trees near you to just look up YouTube reviews that visit each site ... this is what helped me pick site 33 because I wanted to be near the water and have trees around us.
We would definitely stay here again!!

Great stop for a couple of hours - parked in a small shaded lot by the boardwalk. nice walk over the marsh - birds, turtles. saw lots of signs warning about gators but saw no gators. $3 per person for a day pass and they let us fill up our water tank at an open RV site. thank - you!!

Came here for homecoming pictures. Absolutely gorgeous view and beautiful sunset. There were a few grasshoppers on the trail part. The park is well-maintained and has a grass pathway that leads to a pier overlooking the bay and causeway. It's really breathtaking.

First time here. Meaher is a gorgeous state park. It's in close proximity to all kinds of things. Bathhouse/restrooms are clean and comfortable. Sites are spacious and spaced far enough apart. Beautiful views of the bay - at sunrise and sunset. Plenty of gators to be seen. Staff was super friendly. Went straight across the road, to the government building, and got my out of state fresh water fishing license. Full hook-ups uos were nice. The pedestal grill was OK- but the wind kinda makes it hard to grill on it. No fire pits at campsites but with the amount of pine needles carpeting the ground I understand why. No biggie. Be sure and sweep/blow needles off the tops of your slide outside before retracting tem in. Just a suggestion. Overall it is a lovely place and we will be back sometime.

We stayed in the cabin called Frog's Bog.  It had a bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed, another bedroom with a bunk bed and a small living room with a couch bed.  We had 3 adults and 3 children.  Had no problem with sleeping arrangements.  The staff were wonderful.  I hope to visit here again.

Nice campground. Large sites, views of the water. Not used to full hookups at state parks, so that was a bonus.  Nice boardwalk. Coming from the east you have to make a u-turn which had an added off road area to make the turn around.

A small but very beautiful park. The facilities (restrooms, showers, laundry) are well kept, the bathrooms being especially clean. They are currently adding new buildings and upgrading the park quite a bit. In addition to the well kept older wash buildings, there is a brand new wash house with each room having  toilets, changing table, and shower.

They have a brand new loop with paved, level sites; however, there is no shade in the new loop as all the trees were taken out to accommodate the new sites. Hopefully part of the long term plan is to put some trees in that area, as it can get extremely hot and the wind off the bay makes it hard to keep an awning or canopy in place. We struggled a little bit with the water pressure at our full hook-up RV site.

The staff was so kind and accommodating, the boardwalk is perfect to catch a sunset. The boat launch is easily accessible to all sites. There is also a fishing pier, which we didn’t utilize but is also conveniently located within the park.

The USS Alabama Memorial Park is a 10 minute drive from here, which was part of the reason we booked here to begin with. It’s also got groceries and restaurants nearby.

This is the 2nd visit in 30 days & are enjoying our stay. It's not the quietest park due to the highways on both sides... I treat it as white noise. Just an FYI, if you are going west on Hwy. 98, Google maps GPS will tell you to go past the entrance & do a u-turn. There is a left turn lane at the entrance...no need to u-turn. I've tried reporting it to Google, so we'll see what happens.

This is a well maintained park! Close to Mobile, Spanish Fort & Daphne. Grocery stores nearby. The park expanded recently by adding 45 sites , 4 cabins & a huge bathhouse. No shade in the new section. Unfortunately, the new section is where the trails used to be. But I guess it makes for good biking for the kiddos. All the sites are paved, spacious, level & with full hook-ups. There's also 7 tent sites.

Great place for birders! Many species, including great horned owls & ospreys. During our stay we saw an adult owl couple & its owlet. So cool! Great horned owls are highly territorial and seem to hang out in the area where the Gateway to the Delta starts. There's also a boat launch, canoe & kayak launch, fishing pier & fishing beach. A trail to a boardwalk (Gateway to the Delta) will give you a .6 mile loop to see the bay & maybe a gator, otters or snakes...not to mention birds! If you're on the trail at the right time, you can find wild blackberries. Excellent place to see some beautiful sunsets with Mobile in the distance!

The water pressure during our 1st stay was real low…barely enough to start the on-demand water heater. As we left the park, there were signs indicating that the water would be off. Presumably, the cause of the low pressure has been fixed because the pressure was great this time. The water is perfect, not hard or soft and tastes good.

This park has GREAT wifi! And, if you have Verizon, you’ll get a great signal here. No fire rings unless you’re at a tent site. You’ll find a few fire pits scattered around the park. The RV sites have elevated grills & picnic tables. Even if you’re not on a waterfront site, I think all the sites have some view of the water. Canada geese are wandering the park…they leave lots of poop wherever they go, so watch out for that if you’re in the grass.

Overall, this is a great park and I highly recommend it!

We usually stay in the campground when it's on the way. It's well maintained with big spots. They added more camping spots and removed walkable areas which is a little sad in my view. You can still walk on the boardwalk, the fishing pier and some other areas but overall not great for longer walks or hikes. Still a nice option for a campground.

Just incredible! We moved from out of state and had to set up our family in a camper prior to our home completion. This state park/campground is AMAZING! The staff is so friendly, the views are amazing, and it’s so peaceful! Full hook up! Fishing, bike tails, walking trails, amazing sunsets and sunrises! A LAUNDRY station! I have 5 children and everyone here is so nice! My wife, my children, my dog, we all LOVE it here! Thank you!

I drove past this gem of a State Park hundreds of times before actually visiting.
I camped in the upgraded tent sites .
These included water power and wifi.
The air-conditioned shower blocks were always clean. The staff went out of their way to accommodate.  And the boardwalks were great!

I recommend visiting whether you are a local or passing through.Stop and enjoy!!
