Beautiful view, we arrived early - around 7am during the week and had a wonderful time. We hiked around 10 miles, mostly on the scenic and more difficult southern routes before trying out some of the northern trails. We hike on a fairly regular basis and did not have any issues though heavy rain would have made it more challenging as well as having any sort of balance issues as there are some steep areas. We only encountered 5 other hikers total during our trip making it very peaceful. It was a little over a 2 hour drive for us (from the Chicagoland region) but absolutely worth it!

The state park is beautiful, plenty of picnic tables and places for large groups or spots to get "away " from others. Trails looked to be well maintained , and the campground in spots looked like plenty of room between sites. I tent camped there and our spot was great !

Mississippi Palisades State Park is a lovely park overlooking the river. It is well maintained, nice green spaces, woods with trails & views of the River, picnic areas, clean restrooms, and rock climbing. We're hikers, so we combined Sentinel, Pine, and Sunset. Maps are at the rangers office. There were some wider paths, but I liked that most of the trails were narrow "goat-paths", especially, leading to lookout on Sentinel and all of Sunset. Pine is the longest and leads to the Twin Sisters. We did 4.6 miles between them all, and ended the day very tired.

Truly amazing. The trails are on the campsite and in the State Park. The flowers, mushrooms, frogs, and bird songs labor day weekend were magically. Bathroom/showers were very clean and the hosts were friendly.

Mississippi Palisades is a beautiful state park. You can find wild flowers everywhere. Lots of good trails and overlooks to just sit and enjoy the views of the Mississippi River. Ozzie's has the best view at sunset. The campground has many sites, large and leveled. Some with partial or no shade, however. We've camped here many times and it's almost always full, yet pleasantly quiet and enjoyable. The restrooms are clean and in decent shape. The drawbacks: The mosquitoes do tend to get bad in the evening and there is little to no signal in most areas of the campground.

I was a good park to go to and it had a lot of nice overlooks and where you can see the Mississippi River and Iowa and it was very scenic and with but it didn't have a lot of hiking trails and it's a good place to go.

Beautiful family friendly state park property. This property is large and loaded with scenic and recreational features. Hiking options are outstanding. Campground has hot showers and non campers can access the dump station for $5. Access to the park is fee free and day use only. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming throughout the park. Parking is limited and and larger rigs with trailers are not recommended.

A beautiful state park! We camped near a trailhead and enjoyed daily walks with the dogs. There are so many places to visit and explore. It's on our list for next summer.

We've been coming to the Palisades for decades! This park is beautiful! The lookouts are incredible! There's wheelchair access at one. The trails are amazing! Photo opportunities abound! Many restrooms and picnic areas! Very pet friendly. It's definitely a wonderful day to spend alone, on a first date, with a family or for a party!

This was my first time out at the Mississippi Palisades campground and I will definitely be back. The park is so picturesque and scenic. It's quiet. The sights are large and spacious. The can post were exceptionally friendly and very informative and helpful. Overall, definitely a 10-star weekend. You definitely don't want to miss this hidden gem.

Camping on river lowlands below a cliff ridge. Many small sites close together on lush grass. Hiking up on top of the cliff through the forest. Trails are well marked once you’re on them, however to access them there is no clear signage. Start from the guardhouse and use the Aspen Trail to get around. Beware of ticks. Flush and pit toilets. Showers available but do not recommend.

Peaceful, quiet. With At&t not much reception at camp site but that's the point of going camping. To be at peace with nature.

The drive is step and winding. Kinda fun. Just be careful on the blind corners. The views are Incredible. I never thought of the Mississippi River as being so full of islands. We stop whenever we make the trek from Chicago to Galena.

Many great trails of various lengths that you can decide how many miles you want to put in and loop back. A number of lookouts to view the Mississippi River.A decent camping area with shelters that you can tent out at. A few nice rock climbing routes but you want to get the info before since there’s only a few good routes.
