Mojave Narrows County Regional Park
Overview
Mojave Narrows County Regional Park offers a surprising sanctuary within the High Desert of Southern California. Nestled along the Mojave River, this expansive recreation area provides a lush, green landscape that stands in stark contrast to the surrounding arid terrain. It serves as a premier destination for travelers looking to experience the natural beauty of an old riverbed environment while enjoying modern camping conveniences and ample space for relaxation.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just off Interstate 15 in Victorville, the park occupies a unique geographical position where the river flows underground, creating a rich riparian habitat. The area is characterized by towering cottonwood trees and willow thickets, providing ample shade and a home for various wildlife. This transition from open desert to a shaded wetland makes it a refreshing stop for those traversing the inland corridors of California, offering a sense of seclusion despite being near urban amenities.
Amenities & Park Features
The RV facilities at Mojave Narrows accommodate various styles of travel, offering full hookup sites alongside more rustic options. Water enthusiasts will appreciate the two onsite lakes, Pelican Lake and Horseshoe Lake, which are frequently stocked for fishing. The park also features a seasonal splash pad, an extensive disc golf course, and multiple playgrounds. For those who travel with animals, the park provides equestrian trails and plenty of space for walking pets on a leash.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park boundaries, visitors can explore the rich history of the High Desert. The California Route 66 Museum is located just a short drive away in downtown Victorville, offering a nostalgic look at the iconic Mother Road. For those interested in outdoor exploration, the surrounding Victor Valley provides access to diverse hiking trails and desert vistas. Local shopping and dining are easily accessible, making it simple for RVers to restock supplies or enjoy a meal out between park adventures.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for families seeking a weekend getaway with plenty of activities to keep children entertained in a safe environment. It is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, as the water and trees attract numerous migratory species throughout the year. RVers looking for a tranquil, nature-focused stay rather than a standard highway-side parking lot will find the park scenic beauty and quiet evenings particularly rewarding for their Southern California itinerary.

Super windy all day but not in the morning luckily. Terrible fishing luck at Horseshoe and you have to pay for a fishing permit, 5 for kids 15 for adult's. Nice mornings though.

The facility was enjoyable. Staff was on hand and very helpful. Kiddos loved the Splash Pad. They even have covered patios with tables. Good location for our next event.
