 Founded in the 1800's as a seaport and fishing village, Moss Landing has a little something for everyone. Located in the heart of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, it is home to dozens of birds species, as well as otters, sea lions, and harbor seals. Take a scenic nature tour through Elkhorn Slough, one of California's largest coastal wetlands, or catch one of the daily whale-watching cruises out of the harbor right next door. A beautiful beach and many delightful restaurants are within a few minutes' walk. A short 30-minute drive will take you to Santa Cruz or Monterey.&nbsp;
This park only allows fully self-contained RVs with water, electric, and sewer connections. No tents, car camping, passenger vehicles, cargo trailers, or converted vans/trailers.
All sites are back-in and have full hookups. Most sites have both 50 and 30-amp electrical.
You are guaranteed a site, not a site number.

Pets are welcome, but we do have breed restrictions which include Hybrid Wolf or Coyote, Pit Bull (aka American Staffordshire Terrier), Rottweiler, Dobermans and Mastiff breeds or mixes.&nbsp;
Flags &amp; Banners: Only standard American flags may be flown in the park, no exceptions. No other flags or banners may be displayed while in the park.&nbsp;

This is a 50+ RV park. They have no activitys for children. The gate to the Marina is nice to walk over and look at all the boats but beware they will lock the gate on you and then you have to walk around. The manager is also like "paw patrol" he will be at your camp site making sure your pup is on that leach!!!
The dog park is also very small with strong smell of urine!

Solid spot to overnight in the RV. Staff were very helpful and communications about our reserved space was excellent. We're used to dispersed camping in the RV so the fee was steep for us, but a hot shower and access to laundry was welcomed. Will definitely consider on a future trip to the coast.

This RV park is beautiful!  The sites are shaded, nice ocean breeze.... on this hot day! Staff is very helpful.  Short walk to the beach.  I saw seals and a sea lion.  There are otters too, but didn't get to see one.

Love this little gem of a campground in the Monterey Bay Area.  The two couples working there this week were the best we’ve run across on our 10 years of Fulltime RV life.  Super efficient and friendly!  They took pride in cleaning and maintaining the rv park.  I should’ve wrote down their names. Excellent!

Here's the deal... the campground is great. Its clean,  well run, safe, good sized paved pads, easy to navigate. They great you with cookies!
So the PARK is fine.
It's the location.
The pluses are: the ocean is 2 minutes, but your completely protected from any blowing sand, which is a HUGE plus.
Lots of places to walk your dogs on the beach, and we let ours off lead to run and play. No problem.
The park is completely surrounded by the Marina, which is to say lots of boats and water. Also a plus.
And ..my favorite part... there is a Sea-Hag, knarled and tough as nails, with a boat that looks like it was pulled from the bottom of the ocean like a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean. She knows all the fisherman, does some fishing herself, and she sells the fresh catch from her boat. Its AMAZING. And it's 45 seconds from the park, on foot.
Not fancy.
Nope.
Just real fisherman with an old Tub plying their trade. I loved it!
But. ... the massive smokestacks loom over everything. The industrial Power plant churns day and night, just across the street. Its inescapable,  the marred beauty, the distinct feeling of being on the grounds of a EPA SuperFund site... and the town...abandoned old buildings, beautiful relics of a once charming seaside community, slowly composting. One can imagine a thriving tourism spot, the Old West style storefronts full of bric a brac, sweet shops and hucksters. Alas...they lay abandoned,  empty and forlorn. All around you is crop land, tractors, and while it's wonderful to have good dirt and farmstands, they are NOT cheap and everything...including the road..is dirty, so your vehicle and RV are soon covered with a film of grime.
Moss Landing is dead center between Monteray (we went to the Aquarium) and Santa Cruz, so you can be in either town in about 30 minutes. Very convenient.
As long as you look out to the ocean, the vast stretch of barely occupied beach, the seals and enjoy eating fresh fish...its wonderful.
Just don't turn around. The sunrise is a nuclear glow.

Happy to have discovered Moss Landing KOA as we traveled home. The staff are friendly and helpful and even though full, the campground was quiet. It’s a small campground which is refreshing and is located near a great coffee shop, Power Plant Coffee, and what appeared to be several good restaurants. We enjoyed hiking the lovely Moss Landing State Beach area after breakfast before hitting the road home. We will definitely stay here again.

KOA management at this place is new and they changed rates on us with over 20% increase when trying to add 3 nights to a 4 night stay refusing to listen(about our RV repair scheduling).

And also to be fair about this rate increase during their transition and lack of communication from front desk to us when making original reservation.

They must be trying to make a impression on ownership I guess?

Then after traveling since 3am with my family (to avoid  rush hour San Francisco traffic) we pulled in at 9am very tired but they wanted to charge us a $25 early arrival fee with plenty of spots open and available.  RV parks I know do this also but they have always waived the fee if spot is open but no not KOA they will charge you for everything they can I ve always notice and I m done with KOA for this.

We will no longer be staying at KOA's any longer after this KOA put me over the edge because of lack of concern for our family traveling through which KOA know and feast on trying to capitalize financial every chance they get...

We RV all over the country and spent many nights at KOA's over the years but I m done.  KOA owners and management are hard working and nice but always want to charge ya and never budge on trying to dig into your wallet.

It's a very small KOA (KOA Express) with no frills. If you have kids, probably not the KOA for you. Makes a decent stop over. Sites are fairly small, close proximity, but there are a few for larger rigs. No pool, no toys, very small dog poo area, but close to the beach, and a dog beach. The grounds were clean, staff polite, and all hookups functioned as expected. The sites are concrete, ours was fairly level, picnic table, no fire pits. The rent propane fire pits, or can use your own.
The area around it, is a bit sketchy, not much going on. The "Snack Shack" nearby was decent for a breakfast burrito.
Be aware that the road to get to Moss Landing is trash, and the intersection is also silly. Traffic is pretty heavy on that section of Hwy 1, and you will hear the road noise.
I don't think we would stay here again, rather we would go up the road to the "Monterey/Santa Cruz KOA" not far away.

Moss Landing KOA Express is a small, nice, and very quiet campground — perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful stay. The town of Moss Landing itself is very quiet with not much going on, but that’s part of the charm if you want to relax away from the crowds. Monterey is about 30 minutes away, so day trips are easy.
The location is excellent: just 2 minutes from the docks and 5 minutes from the beach, which makes it a great base for walking, beach visits, or boat tours. Amenities are well maintained and of high quality, making the stay comfortable and hassle-free.
Overall, it’s a quiet and well-equipped campground in a convenient coastal location, especially for those who enjoy a more laid-back setting.

Great koa express. Small only about 40 spots but great location for visiting Monterey, caramel and Big Sur. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. As were laundry facilities that are quarter operated. Not a kid zoo koa with tons of activities but a quiet place. We spent 5 nights. Loved being able to walk to the beach and see seals and sea otters in the wild. Only thing I’d change is a fire ring at each site. Instead of one communal one. Also, the wood they sell is “clean burning” and does not catch on fire for 17$ a box. Don’t waste your money!

We had a wonderful time staying at this little KOA. Liz and Ben were just the best, and they clearly care so much about this Park. Their dedication goes into every detail of our stay, from the cookies upon arrival to the meticulous landscaping and upkeep of the sites. They were both kind, friendly, and down-to-earth people who made you feel welcome. We can't wait to come back!

The sites are a little tight but the staff (Ben!) is diligent in helping back people in and ensuring that everyone is parked correctly / not blocking the road.

This park is just a short walk to the marina and beach where an abundance of sea lions and sea otters roam. There are a handful of good restaurants in the area as well as fish markets (like less than 5 mins drive time).

We stayed 4 nites at this location.  The staff were fantastic, including helping us back into the site.  The location was exceptionally clean and well cared for. The beach was a short walk away, with hardly anyone on the beach. The showers and such, were clean and tidy.  It was a very nice place to stay.

This was a wonderful place for my husband and myself to spend our anniversary. You can hear the sea lions from our rv. I can see the tops of the boats from the harbour but I can't see the water from here. There are fantastic, pricey restaurants all within walking distance. I'm talking amazing food. We road our bikes to the end of the marina and watched the sea lions, otters and birds. If you're in the mood for a weekend getaway and you are prepared to spend some money and eat some fancy food, come here! This is a no frills park. No activities that I can see. The spots are small but the location makes up for it. Also it's windy here. I mean windy. And they have a store. That's always a plus.

Absolutely loved this place! We will definitely be back! People were so nice. Literally right on the marina!

Excellent staff. Ben and his lovely wife are always helpful and accommodating. Two of the reasons we return.......

We loved the experience. Clean bathroom and park, nice cemented pads for parking. Excellent location for beach access and Phil's Fish Market. There is a fire pit for the campground but they will allow your own propane or wood firepit so long as it is off the ground.
