Avoid this place if you like being treated with basic respect! Giving 2 stars instead of negative stars for the mountain and location. I booked one of the cabins through Airbnb because it advertised Wi-Fi, as I work remotely. When I arrived, I was told there was no Wi-Fi in the cabin and that it was only available in the office. Since I needed a private, reliable internet connection for work, I explained the situation to the front desk. Instead of trying to help, the staff member was exceptionally rude and dismissive. He told me, “I don’t know who told you that,” refused to even look at the listing when I offered to show him that Wi-Fi was advertised saying he “really doesn’t care,”and rolled his eyes. I’ve been on the road for 6 months and have stayed at dozens of hotels, Airbnbs, and campgrounds, and this was by far the worst customer service I’ve received. Also worth noting the price of the cabins are the same as many local hotels (that do have WiFi, AC, and private bathrooms…)

This is a pretty good campground, clean and in a nice location. There are really nice wooded campsites, but mostly for rent camping. RV camping is mostly parking lot style with some trees and grass. This was a one night gig for us evening worked out great. For longer stays, there is a great little town and of recreation nearby.

The location is stunning: Mount Shasta is beautiful and the staff were great. But 2 things kept it from getting a five star review. (1). Our water pressure (measured psi with my gauge) was really poor and it was weak coming out in the rv faucets. I did ask a maintenance person to check it and he did but his assessment was not using any measurement of the pressure- it was simply looking at the water coming out of the campsite spigot: he said it was fine. Fast forward to the next night stay at a different park and the water pressure was awesome both in PSI and from the faucets.(2) really loud trains pass by the camp and lean on their horns- throughout the night- bring your ear plugs or be a very sound sleeper.

After more than six years as KOA members and countless nights spent at KOA campgrounds across the country with our Airstream, I never imagined I would be writing a review like this. The Mount Shasta City KOA gave us the single worst experience we have ever had at any KOA — or any campground, for that matter. When we arrived and set up our site, we plugged in our Hughes Autoformer Power Watchdog surge protector at the pedestal before connecting to shore power. This is not optional equipment for us — it is a safety device we rely on to protect our refrigerator, air conditioners, and sensitive electronics from damaging voltage irregularities. Within seconds of plugging in, it tripped and threw a “line two voltage error” code, indicating the incoming voltage had dropped below 104V. That is not a marginal reading. It is a level that can silently damage or destroy expensive RV appliances over time. We went to the office to report the problem. To their credit, they sent a staff member promptly. He acknowledged the campground was experiencing “many issues with their electrical grid” and attempted to reset the panel. It did not resolve the problem. We returned to the office and offered a reasonable compromise: allow us to boondock — no electricity, water, or sewer — so we could still occupy our reserved site without drawing power. That request was denied. The technician was sent back a second time. His suggestion was that we simply not use our surge protector. We declined. Bypassing a safety device to accommodate a campground’s faulty infrastructure is not a compromise — it is an invitation to equipment damage worth thousands of dollars. Shortly after, the manager visited our site. We offered to boondock again. She refused, stating they had “no way of knowing” whether we would actually use services. Then she called my wife and delivered an ultimatum: leave immediately, or she would call the police to have us evicted. No refund was offered. No apology was given. We were left with no reservation and no nearby alternatives, and spent over two hours driving to find a place to stay that night. We are seriously reconsidering our KOA membership after this experience, and we will be sharing what happened with the broader camping community. To any RV owner — particularly those traveling with surge protectors, power monitors, or any equipment designed to guard against electrical faults: be warned. If this campground’s electrical grid cannot meet basic voltage standards, and if management’s response to that failure is to demand you remove your safety equipment or face eviction, you are better off driving past. Protecting your rig is not negotiable, and no campground should ever ask you to choose between your equipment and your site.

I really enjoyed this KOA. Smaller than the others, which is nice. Most of the spots are shaded which is also really nice. They even have liquor for sale. Awesome tent camping spots. The layout of where they put the electric, water, & sewer is a little strange. But you can manage. I think they need another dumpster, it fills fast. Wonderful location. Friendly staff.

Stayed a couple nights in the two room cabin and it was even better than what we had hoped for. Mini fridge and fans/heating and cooling was great! Restrooms and showers were clean. Everyone at the main office/shop was great too and I would book here again if in the area.

Mount Shasta KOA is a perfect destination if you are planning on exploring the area. The camp is very clean and the staff is very friendly. There is a pool that was empty, but I am told will be full ny Memorial weekend and throughout the summer. There is a small playground for the kids and a enclosed pet area with several doggie stations strategically placed throughout the park. There are restrooms with showeres and a laundry. And the store has some of your basic necessities in case you forgot something. The downtown has several places to eat and two grocery stores. Close by is Siskyou Lake, Castle Lake and great hicking trails. One more thing, this KOA has both RV spots and over 100 tent sites including small group sites. And the really cool thing is Mt. Shasta in the background.

Great campground. Small, but well kept. Clean, well lit bathrooms. Convenient off I-5 and friendly people. My complaint is the wifi! For how much they charge a night, they really need to invest in better wifi!! Also, the only spot with any real view of Mt Shasta is Cabin 1, so don't come thinking you can sit outside your tent or camper and enjoy seeing the mountain. You can't!

Called ahead to book as our Canadian cc wouldn't go through online. Hannah was a massive help getting us booked into one of the deluxe cabins. The site was clean and tidy on our walk through with the dogs, clean K9 play area. The cabin had all linen provided and heating on ready for us. The on-demand hot water shower was a welcome change from camping. The room was cozy and had everwr needed. The coffee machine and optional pods or ground coffee filter was great, allowing us to make fresh coffee in the morning before heading off again. 4 min from some great choices to eat in town too.

We were looking for a clean, easy to get into place to stay overnight. The KOA was convenient to I-5 and we booked a pull through basic site. It was very easy to get in and set up. Fairly level and no trees too low. We had a good WiFi connection. It was very quiet. It is pretty dark at night so setting up after dark might be an issue. There is one large tree as you come into the park that narrows the entrance a bit. Just be aware. The bathrooms were clean and everything functioned. We did walk into town to see how far it was. It is less than a mile. A few nice looking restaurants were there but we didn’t eat at any this time. There is a small grocery store as well. We would stay here again. The rates are reasonable, at least in the off season.

Just an overnight stop for us. The showers were extremely small, but hot. The bathrooms were clean and warm. The WiFi worked perfectly for streaming. There is a nicely stocked store here, right down to dog bones. Town is only a few blocks away for supplies, but you still get the feel of being secluded with trees. I liked it a lot.

Such an amazing experience. They have excellent pre-stay communication. The park is beautiful and well maintained. The front desk staff are helpful and kind. I’m looking forward to my next stay!!

Great location easy accessoff I-5! We only overnighted in an RV site with a patio, firepit, Adirondack Chairs and a patio table with chairs & umbrella! Perfect place to relax and hang after a long day of driving! Really nice location and the town, Shasta City, looked so cute, we will definitely be visiting again!

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. The cabin was cute and comfortable. I just wish the heater made it a bit warmer. Our cabin wasn’t too close to the bathrooms, which wasn’t very convenient at night, but overall it was a good stay.

We just wrapped up another amazing 5 days and 4 nights at Mt. Shasta KOA Holiday, and it never fails to impress us! This place has become a family tradition — even though we drive 6 hours to get here, it’s always worth it. The staff are super helpful and genuinely friendly, always taking care of things promptly and making sure guests have a great stay. The bathrooms are spotless with strong water pressure in the showers (huge plus after a long day outdoors!). The tent sites are spacious and nicely spread out — not too close to each other, which makes it feel peaceful and private. Can’t recommend this KOA enough. Thank you to the whole team for keeping this place such a welcoming and relaxing spot. We’ll definitely be back again soon!
