The campground itself is OK but pretty limited. You can walk the loop of the campground and walk down to the river, but that’s about it. However, $37/night for no running water and dark pit (no flush) toilets with no toilet paper is a scam/theft. The host was friendly. There were a lot of sites reserved for the weekend but were empty all weekend.

The campground is very nice. We stayed in a lot that used to be the middle of the CG but after the landslide and the river moved it washed out half the campground so we had Riverfront camping space. The camp host, Richard, was very nice and easy to work with. The campground is just a short jaunt down Mountain highway loop from Lake 22 trailhead, so that was nice too!

Perfect perfect perfect. Only amenities are pit toilets. Feels like actual camping, as opposed to the other campgrounds in the area which borderline feel like hotels with the extensive amenities they offer. Beautiful sites, lush moss and a beautiful river. Camp host was absolutely wonderful.

This was our first over night camping and we were lucky to find a spot. We stayed at site #77. It is a First come First serve. We reached there around 8:30am, on last week of Aug. There were 4 sites available and we picked the one close to the river. The river wasn’t overflowing but don’t be fooled by the small river. The currents are powerful and the rocks are sharp. There is only vault toilet as mentioned and it was neither clean nor foul. No cell coverage hence completely cut out from digital world. Carry $33 cash for the camping fee. The night stars were amazing. Nearest restaurant is in Granite Falls city which is 20-30 min away.

Could be a very beautiful campground. All spots have their own table and fireplace. However currently there is no running water or any other facilities just pit toilets. There was plenty space left for walk-ins. If you need a spot with water there are also Verlot and Tourlo campgrounds further down the road about 2.5miles.

I love this beautiful campground, and look forward to when they reopen. I'm glad I called the forest service about the status of the campground, and it is still CLOSED. The work being done is two-fold. (1) To shore up the bank opposite the campground, and (2) to insure the health of the salmon run, which has decreased due to silt in the water. I'm not sure why someone mentioned in another review that the showers are closed due to COVID. ****One of the things John from the Forest service mentioned is that people have been coming up here their entire lives. I have to say I was a bit taken aback (in a good way) since this truly applied to me. From the time my brother and I were small our dad brought us to The Granite Falls Fish Ladder to watch the salmon run, go fishing, and camping. Way back then.....we slept in sleeping bags on the ground. On one camping trip we were startled awake by a fierce thunderstorm, followed by a torrential downpouring of rain. We grabbed our sleeping bags and bolted for the car, where we spent the remainder of the night. Because we were soaked to the skin the windows quickly fogged up and I drew faces in the moisture while bolts of lightning lit up the night sky. The return trip always included a stop at Zeke's, a hamburger stand that used to be across from the fish ladder. Wonderful memories đź’– So, even though it's sad and frustrating, Gold Basin will reopen (eventually) and we can all look forward to making new memories.

This campground was very clean and peaceful and quiet. It was a pleasure going there. This was our first time at this campground. Would recommend a friend.

Great camp site. Very well kept. Because of covid the showers are closed though. But a small hike to the river and a sand bath fixes that.

The open side is well maintained, the closed side makes for a beautiful walking path. The canp hosts are a wonderful couple who are just the nicest most genuine people you could hope to meet.

This campground is beautiful and the sites are spacious. Our spot had enough trees to set up our hammocks. The only downside was the neighboring site had about 15 people and partied loudly until 2am. We even heard another neighbor yell at them to quite down. We spoke with one of the campground hosts the next day and he must have spoken with them because the following night the partying only went until around 10/11pm. It would have been nice if camp hosts were slightly more proactive on this kind of stuff. Lots of wonderful hiking in the area also.
