Very quiet campground with nice sites. We visited in early October and our lot was covered with a thick layer of leaves. A person from their staff came out with a rake to clean it up. Close to pictured rock, wagners falls, and miners falls.

This campground was only okay. The sites were not the best and when we went to do laundry. The washer and dryer’s were definitely old and needed to be replaced. Our clothes smelled when they came out of the washer. We used lots of dryer sheets to help get the smell out. I would definitely not camp there again

Location was great. Close to the Pictured Rocks tour and multiple waterfall hikes. Lots of trees and friendly campers. Note to the manager however; please invest in updating the bathroom and shower facilities. Gross shower curtains, and shower stalls so tiny you can hardly move. The toilets were okay clean wise. We traveled over four thousand miles out west and back to Mi and this was by far the least kept up KOA. Also, I realize it's early September, but walking by the disgusting green pool was just an indicator of the lack of care and upkeep of the property.

Our week at this KOA was good. The staff is bare minimum, so other than a little site checking after folks leave, you won't see anyone. If you are a class A with no other means of transportation, bring wood. They sell wood, but won't use their golf cart to deliver it to your site. They told me they have handles, meaning I could carry 6 bundles to my site. No thanks. Sites are very private and very wooded and quiet. There is no gravel, everything is dirt and or mud. Our site was one of the more narrow sites and had big roots across the walking area outside the RV. I wouldn't stay their again, and far less than the KOA's we usually experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at KOA Munising/Pictured Rocks! The campground was very clean and we loved that the campsites had some good separation with trees, or at least our tent site did. I saw other reviews complaining about the proximity of the highway and was fine with it at first, but it can be pretty loud, especially in the mornings. We could see the highway from our tent so it would be nice to be able to request a specific site rather than being assigned. The bathrooms were clean and nice for a campground restroom. The proximity to Munising and Pictured Rocks was excellent and made it very easy to get to all of our activities!

I chose to stay at this KOA after some friends recommended it! We tent camp, normally with our family but this was just an anniversary camping trip to see Pictured Rocks! Very clean bathrooms and showers. Friendly staff. One of the most quiet camp grounds I’ve ever stayed in! We actually slept in, instead of being woken by nature and playful children. There wasn’t any fancy bells and whistles to keep the kids busy all day but the area has so much to offer that they don’t need an arcade and camp ground activities all day for the kids. The pool looked clean and everyone said the water temps were warm. Will stay again.

Very clean and well managed campground. The campsites are around a central hub which includes a nice swimming pool and open yard for kids to play. The bathrooms, store, fire wood, potable water, ice, and other supplies are also there. The campsites are quite generously spread out and wooded, one of the better private campgrounds. We had a pull through, #52, and it was quite private, flat, we only got 20amp service, but there are sites with 30amp and 50 amp and very big pull through sites with the super big rigs and busses. It was fun to walk around and look at the assortment of RVs, people were friendly. There's a dog walking trail. Kids are riding bikes around. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. I would absolutely return.

We just camped here last week and loved it! Most sites are in a wooded area and it’s very clean. We were traveling from another campground and called ahead to see if we could check in early and they were very accommodating. The staff was great and very helpful throughout our stay. My only warning, DO NOT book sites 1-7 as they are right off the entrance and about 200 yards from the highway. It’s extremely loud with trucks and log haulers traveling 65-70mph. My whole family barely slept. Thankfully they were able to move us to another site for the rest of our stay due to a cancellation. Aside from that we enjoyed our stay and the convenience of being so close to everything.

I stayed at this KOA in October 2024 during the fall foliage season. Like every KOA I have been to, it was clean, spacious, and had friendly hosts. They were kind enough to post my check-in envelope outside when they found out I would be arriving late that night. The restrooms were immaculate. Saw great views of the aurora borealis that night too. This is undoubtedly the best campground in Alger County, and I will be certain to return. Highly recommended!

Steve (owner?) was always helpful. Also, when no one else was in the building or laundry mat, he allowed me to bring in my dog. (This was especially helpful as I was traveling solo, the dog is a personal guard dog that barks non-stop if separated, and it was hot outside.) This campsite was all around a nice place to take a break from our weeks' long road trip. Note: All but the sites near the office are shaded and the Internet is strong.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Store well stocked. Bathroom was spacious. I’m sure the showers started clean but with only 3, they got not so clean by the time I got to take one. Sites are close but the few trees in between make a big difference and make the sites work well. The pool is basic, but heated and my kids enjoyed. THANK YOU for closing it at 9- otherwise camping next to it could have been very off putting. Quiet at night thankfully. The smell of weed was pervasive- a turn off for my family (starting at 9 am?!) smoking weed is NOT legal in public spaces in MI- so should be shut down. Location i thought was great- close to pictures, town & grocery store.

It all depends on the site that you've been. We were assigned to the small corner site near the pool. It was hard to fit the tent(12x16) and truck. It was noisy because of the pool just in front of you, no trees or shrubs. The site was muddy, sometimes because of the overflown pool. Restrooms available only at one location and at the end(front) of the campsite. So, traveling with RV and parking on large wooden sites in the middle of campground would change the experience, but in our case it was mixed experience. Overall location looks a little bit old and outdated. Convenience store definitely is a bonus, of you forgot some cables, rugs, etc. Frash coffee at the morning also a good thing to start your day. Location is good.

Keep in mind this is a Journey KOA, so it’s not a Holiday experience. The amenities are basic—a decent heated pool, park, a dog trail, good WiFi, and cable (don’t forget to bring a coax). What really stood out to us, and why we gave this place 5 stars, was the excellent customer service and the convenient location. We stayed for a week in lot 27, with full hookup. It is clean, has a nice picnic table and fire pit. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, Glenda, Steve, and Lauren were all incredibly friendly, informative, and accommodating. Glenda made our check-in process smooth and provided us with plenty of helpful information since it was our first visit to the UP. I witnessed Lauren handle a difficult customer with such calmness and respect, even though the issue wasn’t the KOA’s fault. When we first arrived, our lot wasn’t a good fit, but Steve accommodated us with a better spot even though the campground was practically full. We know not always possible but that effort really made a difference for our family. Steve is particularly great at ensuring the park's safety; when some kids were roughhousing at the park, he respectfully intervened & put a stop to it. I appreciated knowing that they try & keep it safe and family friendly. All in all, I recommend this KOA and would definitely stay here again! Thank you KOA team!

I stayed in a tent and had an overall good experience in a somewhat wooded area on the edge of the property. The facilities were clean and convenient

We had a booking discrepancy coming back from the UP. Where we were in the UP put us too far from Pictured Rocks for a day trip. So it seemed like a miracle to get to stop here for a couple nights on our way south. The campground was beautiful. The sites were set up to allow maximum privacy. We weren't here very long, but we enjoyed it. Night time was dark and quiet and it was just where you want to be to experience everything the area has to offer.
