My wife and I recently rented a kayak at Northland Outfitters. We found the staff there exceedingly friendly and helpful. They know the best stretches of river to explore, including spot-on tips reflecting current conditions of weather and flow. Their equipment is well maintained, their prices more than reasonable, and the owners are wonderfully flexible in their scheduling, even opening early to accommodate our travel schedule. Viewing Benny the Beardfisher was a delightful bonus!

We love it here! We have been visited mtg for 3 years and staying in the cabins for the last 2. The property, cabins, and bathrooms are always very clean and you can tell are well cared for. The setting is very scenic. The owners are on the premises and super sweet people. They have put a lot of love into this place. This year we finally did a float down the river through their livery and it was probably the best part of our trip. 20/10 we will be back!

This place is amazing on every level! The campground is the perfect combination of smaller and spacious. Amazing views on the river! We stayed in one of the cabins. Rustic charm with "brand new" cleanliness and modern amenities. The ownership and staff go above and beyond. When part of our camping group left with some of our cooking gear, the owners loaned us their own pan so we could cook our food. They and the staff are extremely courteous, always welcoming, and readily available. We also booked a kayak trip which absolutely beautiful, relaxing, and very convenient. The end point is right back at the campground. And don't forget to see Benny! Unbelievable one of a kind GIANT natural piece of art commissioned with a world renowned artist. Northland Outfitters Campground is officially one of our go-to destinations when we travel to the UP for years to come! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Long overdue! We stayed two nights about 3 weeks ago and had such an incredible experience. The owners and staff are so dedicated and passionate about the campground and every detail that comes with it. They truly treat you so well and will do anything to make your stay an enjoyable one. Laid back, quiet, private and clean (bathhouses included!) We stayed two nights in the P4 cabin — super cozy, clean and nice! The general store is awesome with plenty of essentials, local art and swag! We kayaked the Ten Curves route on the Manistique River and had so much fun (even when I got thrown from my kayak! Watch out for those trees and logs under the surface!) Don’t forget to say hi to Benny the Beard Fisher — so cool! We would recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back. Such a great time and we were treated so well! Katie & Ryan — happy campers — June 2025!

We had the best time celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary at Northland Outfitters. The Thomas Dambo troll, Benny the beardfisher, drew us here but the campgrounds themselves are immaculate. The riverfront cabin was extremely cozy and well appointed, and the bathhouses were the best we have ever come across at a campground. We will certainly be returning and hope to kayak next time! Thank you for a lovely experience 🌲🏕️

My mother, 6yr old son and myself stayed recently for the weekend here in Cabin 5 and we are sure to be back again! If I don’t bullet point the great things about this place I’ll end up writing an essay. -Super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. One of the gentlemen even offered to drive firewood up to our cabin. -Peaceful, quaint and clean. The campground its self is located on a river and also has a pond. It’s not very big but to us it was perfect. Quiet (I’m sure we were the loudest ones there unintentionally) and also has a space for lawn games they provide which also happened to be right outside our cabin. The bathhouses are seen being cleaning many times throughout the day and they were so much cleaner than what I’ve experienced at other campgrounds and also hotels. -Kayak, tubing, and canoe rentals directly from them with the campground being the end landing -Not far from other Upper Peninsula activities to experience (even if you’ve already done them before, ahem rock hunting 😉) -And of course, Benny the Beard Troll! What a delight to see and experience. Non-campers can walk down to see Benny just a short distance for $10 per carload. That being said visitors who were not camping were super respectful of the campers/campground just as the campers were. Everyone was so respectful about letting each other take pictures of or with the troll and being mindful. Long story short I highly recommend this as a place to stay!

We had absolutely the best time staying here! We had driven up a few times to see Benny and decided that we wanted to stay because the campground is so nice. We stayed at site #9 with our camper. Super convenient to the newly remodeled bathhouse and because it was the end camping spot, we didn’t feel cramped. Easily arranged a kayak trip and appreciated the very clear direction and heads-up on things we might encounter on our trip. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and we cannot wait to go back!

Our family camped here for 6 days and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We stayed in a tent, pulled a 10 foot trailer and still had plenty of room in our site. The hosts are amazing and were always available for questions or to help with any items to make our stay more comfortable. The river is beautiful and provided a very peaceful trip downstream. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be back.

We decided to make a stop to see Benny The Fisherman Troll. It was amazing! The site is so beautiful the a river. We got there early and the staff were so great to let us in early. The store had really beautiful items to purchase and the bath house was very clean. Worth the time to visit this Northland Outfitters Campground. Love from Florida and Idaho.

The service was outstanding. Our coffee pot was a mess and Donna saved us! She gave us one to use. Launching off the campsite to canoe was very convenient. The canoeing experience was outstanding . The campsite was absolutely gorgeous and easy to find. I highly recommend you stay there. We will be back.

Fantastic camping and kayaking! Leon and Donna (owners) are friendly and hospitable, and live right there if you need anything. Our kids enjoyed the basketball court, sand volleyball and we even played their board games they had in the office. We had site 1, right next to the drive, and liked that from there we could see the river, and our kids playing. Bathrooms were a bit of a hike, but no complaints on cleanliness or hot water. We did the 2.5 hour 10 mile kayak trip and loved every minute of it! Highly recommend this trip, as well as this campground!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The grounds were well maintained. It’s a campsite great for using the river, but not much on other activities.
