We camped here 3 days/ 2 nights. Had a huge pull through site that was level and shaded. Water on our site was easy but no electricity. Hikes were easy to access but no dogs on the trails except the 2 trails. So limited dog friendly trails. We enjoyed the location and rangers were nice.

Wonderful place to camp! Clean site, clean bathrooms with showers, awesome Rangers, good amount of trees and open skies, and very stable concrete benches. Very nice spot close enough and far enough from the city life.

I had not been here for a couple of years. The campground, bathrooms and the showers were clean and well maintained. There seemed to be quite a few people that were temporarily living there out of necessity. The campground was almost completely full every night and empty in the morning. For the most part it was completely quiet at night except for the sound of people coming in late and pitching tents or getting their cars ready to sleep in. I wouldn't suggest leaving your belongings unattended for to long though.

Nice regional park. There is a funny homeless man who sits at the back of the park and yells funny stories. You have to check him out if you are there. I do not like how they added conststion cones in the trail to watch out for obvious low hanging branch. It takes away from the ambience.

One of my favorite local regional parks, bathrooms and showers if you need them. Lots of trails to explore, very kid friendly. And if you don’t want to cook your own meals there are plenty of options close by in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Site 39 is the best very spacious and near bathroom and showers. The Rangers roam at night making sure everyone is safe.

Great park with a little of everything. I've camped here several times over the years it is getting a little noisier as time goes on. there's a very long hiking and biking loop. Several hiking trails. There are a couple of picnic areas if you pay for the day camp site. Group camp area. Overnight campsites are a little small. Some do have some shade so good idea to drive through the Park first then come back and pick your spot. Excellent place for family events as well. Great picnic areas Room for kids to play And a very nice playground

No bad camping spot here. All the camping spots are large. You're not on top of everyone even when they are full. Beautiful park. My dad and mom brought their camper out here while helping me heal from hip surgery. I have never RVed here, but here is some info I got from them as RVers: -There is a dump station. -Not all spots had water, but it was OK cause they filled up with water when they had to dump. -You can run your generator till 8pm -The showers are free but you have to keep pushing in a button throughout your shower The shower room further away from the front of the park had warmer water. - No washer and dryer but there is a great laundry mat far away. -Make your reservations 4 or 5 month ahead if you want to stay in the same spot. They had to dump so they really didn't mind moving around. -Dogs are welcome, but dogs aren't welcome on most trails. -They complemented how clean the park always stayed. -They felt safe with someone from the park always driving around to keep an eye on things. Orange county parks are really some of the best out there, a huge plus, the workers are all friendly and helpful.

Rangers were very friendly and helpful with finding my campsite even in the later hours of check-in. Bathrooms were very clean and functional, campgrounds are well capped and fairly level.

We had a great time camping at O’Neil. You should really check out the available campsites before you book if possible. All of the sites are very different shapes, and the amount of room varies greatly. The only issue we had was the parks policy of two vehicles per site. Because we came from Texas and had a class C RV it was counted as one vehicle. But with our tow vehicle and my son‘s truck, one employee did not want to let us park the ‘ third vehicle’ there. The park Ranger cleared it up, but for the next few days, that employee gave me the cold shoulder as if I got him in trouble.🤷🏽♂️ The park may want to update their rules on number of vehicles at site or offer overnight satellite parking in the day use area Would definitely stay here again next time we are in Orange County Best firewood prices in the region ($5 a bundle)

Fun place!! You see mule deer regularly, squirrels, rabbits, pileated woodpeckers, abundant wildlife. Nice BBQ areas, cheap day use prices. Camping prices are fantastic. A great little getaway in the mountains, calm, relaxing, quiet (most of the time) and an extremely well kept and clean park. Restrooms are always clean, and showers are available too with hot water. The only reason for 4 stars is it can get a little busy and noisy during the weekend with all the campers around.
