Ouabache Trails Park

Fairly narrow roads, but the breathtaking scenery is worth it. Slow down and read the plaques, too. Learn about Tecumseh and the Little Rock!

Best near-town campground I've seen. Very clean, different camping styles from rough to bougie, huge park, it has everything!!

We came here to watch the eclipse and hike the trails while waiting. It was the perfect little park with a lot of friendly people. Bathrooms were small, but okay.

Went mushroom hunting here and didn't find any probably because I was too busy taking nature pics on this gorgeous spring day April 13th 2023

The camping here in the winter is quite nice and affordable. Nice tent sites, water and showers available, quiet (except for the train). Its got wood for sale and close to town, the wabash river, hiking trails, etc. Will go back in the future!

Arrived at the shelter that we reserved weeks ago in the morning with our group for a day of outdoor cooking training only to be approached by another group who had been double-booked by the park. We tried to compromise and moved completely out of the shelter house so they could use that, and moved everything to the fire pit. We had had a fire and charcoal burning for about an hour already, so we could not move from that area. Then, the superintendent approached us and very rudely stated that she was going to call the "deputies to remove us for trespassing" even though she admitted they had double-booked us. She expected us to be able to move our campfire to another location to continue cooking our meal, which was about 15 minutes away from being finished cooking. Seriously! She really expected us to relocate our fire and cooking to another area, which she also told us was booked for use an hour from then. The rude and condescending words and tone used by her and the party who was double-booked was so completely astounding and unacceptable. We were treated like hostiles who just took someone's reserved spot even though we have proof of our reservation. I have honestly never been spoken to by someone like that. She had the audacity to berate us only to invite us to come back again. Ha! Not happening - ever! (The really crazy part is that we were directed to the Hedstrom shelter which is not on a map, and had to be directed to that area by someone working at the park. You just don't happen upon an area like that.)

Very nice place to camp. Some water and power connections will need an extension. Train is a minor inconvenience, I’ve seen worse. Trail markings could be improved. Trail 5 was partially blocked by downed tree, Trail six was overgrown. Limited WiFi available.

Very quiet, beautiful place, people are so friendly, plenty of playgrounds, but be sure to bring plenty of leveling materials some of the sites are not very level.

The campground itself is very nice and scenic. We had several issues however. First, the neighbors (and their Kids) were up after midnight being very noisy. Being located next to the railroad tracks, the CannonBall Express came through all night blowing its horn. Then, to top it off, there was no running water for one full day. Luckily, I had put a little in our supply tank to get us through. The staff lady was very friendly and helpful.

We loved this park and would definitely return if we are in this area again. It was a lovely park, lots of shade, with wonderful hosts. This is a county park, with several trails, nice park area with playground, ballfield, shelterhouse, etc. prior to entering the campground. The price was right too! There was confusion on our site, as someone left without letting them know, leaving their travel trailer still on the site. As it turned out we loved the site they offered us better. The only drawback was hookups are shared by two units and we were on the far side of the hookups. We were concerned about not having 50 amp (we did not have an extension cord for 50 amp, only 30 amp) and utilizing the AC. We didn't need to worry about it, as the outdoor temperatures and the shade were perfect, and we never turned the AC on. For the inconvenience they gave us firewood and a bag of ice, which we truly appreciated. Thanks for a great two nites, AND we loved Vincennes, IN.
