This was my first stay at a KOA, and Iâm genuinely torn between rating this higher for the amenities and lower for the site assignment and service, so Iâm settling on 3 stars. The good: Check-in was easy, even after hours. Our packet was waiting and it was simple to find our site. The bathrooms were excellent, especially compared to typical forest service campgrounds, and the dedicated dishwashing area was very handy. I loved being able to have ice and firewood delivered directly to our site, and the onsite general store was a big plus for convenience. The dog-walking area was well set up with bags provided, and most of the staff we interacted with were friendly and pleasant. The not-so-good: We were tent camping with one ground tent and one rooftop tent for a full week. I made our reservation about five months in advance, hoping that would improve our chances of getting a good site. However, sites are assigned at check-in, and because we arrived after hours, we ended up in one of the smallest tent sites (T34), which was 100% dirt. In contrast, many other tent sites were three to four times larger and mostly grass. After noticing that most tent sites turned over every day or two, we asked about switching. We were referred to a staff member who was noticeably rude and simply told us all other sites were taken which was confusing, given their assigned at check-in policy and the visible turnover. We also asked about moving to the area right next to us, which wasnât marked as a regular site but was larger and also mostly dirt. We were told it was their âemergency overflowâ and couldnât be used for us. However, that overflow spot was filled by someone new every night of our stay, effectively being used as an extra rentable site rather than true overflow. Would I stay here again? Possibly, but only if I knew I could arrive early enough to have a realistic chance at one of the better tent sites. Based on my memory, I would avoid the smaller sites in the T32âT36 range, especially T34 and T35, which seemed to be the smallest. I would also avoid T1-T8 due to the volume of traffic in this part of the campground.

We had an amazing time at the Ouray KOA! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. We felt highly supported and absolutely loved the Halloween activities throughout the weekend. Weâre already making plans to come back. Thank you!

I stayed here for a solo trip with my dog (4 days)...by far the best service and experience I've had with any campground. Overall, the noise level was low, very clean showers/ bathrooms, and layout within the grounds. Great location as well (40 mins from Montrose & 15 mins outside of Ouray). Staff were super friendly and give great recommendations for local finds- Aaron is awesome. He'll go out of his way to make sure visitors are 100% satisfied. Could not have asked for a better experience- I'll be back

Aaron was so friendly and made checking in a breeze! Great discount promo and our camp site was perfect. Miss Cara provided awesome hiking recommendations. Location, campground, & staff were all 10/10. Will definitely be back!!

The staff went above and beyond to make your stay great. They delivered wood right to our cabin for us. One night we wanted a fire but were not going to be back in time before office closed. I called and they delivered the wood , fresh towels and more coffee pods. It was very clean and well maintained. We loved listening to the stream and our grandson loved the swing. Loved the updates and welcome notes they texted us each day. Highly recommend.

Itâs located slightly away from the center of Ouray, and it feels more like a campground inside a national or state park in the mountains. We slept comfortably, listening to the sound of a stream flowing all night. The Wi-Fi worked well, and although the restrooms are a bit old, the hot water came out fine after a short wait. The campground is very spacious, and there's even an on-site Italian restaurant. Fortunately, the staff were friendly to us.

Jeff is the best manager that we have ever talked to, great and clean campgrounds, and all the bathrooms were spotless!!!!

I would like to say everyone here is wondeful. However, JEFF the manager absolutely RUINED our trip... His demeanor and attitude was truly one of the worst I have ever experienced. He was beyond unorganized. We had called and made arrangements for 18 people at three sites. However, when we go there we noticed the sites were a little to small to accommodate us. So we spoke to the staff the moved us down into sites that worked for us. It was supposed to be for three nights. On the second night big Jeff made us move into spots that wouldn't fit us. Like what the Heck????? He said our spots that we were in were booked even though the staff placed us their. The funny thing was no one showed up there to that spot yet he made 18 people move... We have been coming here for 3 years never had a problem until we met big Jeff. On the second night I apologize to the staff for being a tad loud. Yes, we will take full responsibility for that. But to come over to us AND SCREAM AT US and tell us we needed to go to bed or he was calling the sheriff was insane. There was no prior warning. This man has some SERIOUS anger problems and blames everything on his staff. He takes no responsibility for his actions or the way he acts. Honestly, we have always loved staying at this KOA but we will NEVER RETURN. I will make sure to go out of my way to tell people about our terrible experience there. Jeff work on being more organized, your passive aggressiveness, and your anger. Not cool.

Our deluxe cabin was great - clean, comfortable, and right by the creek. The staff was communicative via text about updates about the campground (shower house, lost & found, etc). The campground is also central between Ridgway & Ouray, which was convenient. We loved our stay!

I must say I couldnât leave this place fast enough. We arrived and friendly staff at the front desk. Having a camper with no bathroom and a terrible experience with the restrooms/showers here. For one the combo lock on the door is annoying and just dumb. Obviously nobody is sneaking in to use the bathrooms here. Forgetting the code and having to walk back to the camper. The 16 trips or so I made to the restroom/shower EVERY SINGLE time 1 or 2 out of the 3 toilets was occupied with someone taking a dump, no matter what the time was. The ventilation system is absolutely trash and the smell is 10 times worse than going into a porta potty! Bathrooms were rather disgusting with poo splattered toilets and trash on floors. Awkward inward swing doors in the shower with no shelves but has 2 hooks. 2 showers in the womenâs and 1 toilet out of service which is unacceptable for the price they charge to stay at this place. Zero sleep past 7am and Iâm a heavy sleeper, lots of banging and loud noises. People driving excessively fast down the lane in and out of the park. And ignorant people letting their dogs bark!!!! Nobody says anything to them. Loud road traffic behind the place. Iâd give the place a 4 star if they correct the bathroom ordeals and ventilation fan! Hang a sign up in each stall for the boomers that sit there 30 minutes with a log in the bowl, the entire locker room doesnât want to smell your sh**. Learn what a courtesy flush is!!!!! And sadly I suggest installing speed bumps to slow people down and help quiet the place in the early hours

Awesome place to stay. I stayed here in my converted van a few nights. I really appreciate the clean bathrooms, clean grounds, peaceful little creek running through the property, LAUNDRY, nice people and yummy food. They even have jeeps to rent there which I will be doing soon!!

The cabins are a lot smaller than advertised, shared bathroom is quite a distance walking through snow. It's not a problem if you're told ahead of time and prepared, which we were not. Had to cover many large cracks to keep from freezing. They had a very small space heater which did very little with the wind blasting through the place. I'm glad we were prepared with multiple blankets. Wanted a quiet retreat and ended up being next to the bar. We left as soon as the sun came up and will not be back

Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great amenities. A hidden gem on the 550 if going into the town of Ouray. You cannot even see the campground from the road but there is easy access to it and the neighboring towns. It is a fabulous location.

We just needed to use facilities on the way through. The showers here are so clean, water is piping hot and pressure is great. One of the cleanest bathroom setups we have had in awhile. The camphost was so friendly. Don't forget to say hello to Hermes, the camp cat! Such a sweetie and might follow you into the bathroom to warm up on the off season. đ

Only checked in yesterday but so far so good. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. Beautiful surroundings, and very pleasant and helpful staff.
