Pacific Rim/Green Point

Overview

Green Point Campground serves as the primary gateway for those looking to stay within the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Perched on a forested terrace above the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, this facility offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the wild beauty of Vancouver Island. Managed by Parks Canada, it provides a well-maintained environment where the coastal rainforest meets the sea, offering a tranquil alternative to private resorts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated mid-way between the charming towns of Ucluelet and Tofino, the park is ideally located for exploring the region. The campground is nestled within a temperate rainforest, offering sites shaded by massive cedar and hemlock trees. Just a short walk down a dedicated path, visitors find the expansive sands of Long Beach, famous for its misty mornings, rugged coastline views, and powerful surf.

Amenities & Park Features

While the setting is inherently rustic, the park provides essential comforts for modern travelers. Most RV sites are equipped with 15/30 amp electrical hookups, which is a significant convenience in a national park setting. On-site facilities include modern washrooms with hot showers and flush toilets, fire pits for evening gatherings, and communal water filling stations. A sani-dump is also available near the entrance to accommodate self-contained units.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure is never far away, with direct access to several iconic hiking trails. Travelers can explore the Rainforest Trail to see ancient trees or head to the Wickaninnish Beach area for educational programs. Surfing and beachcombing at Long Beach are daily highlights for many guests. For a change of pace, the Wild Pacific Trail in nearby Ucluelet offers stunning lighthouse views and some of the best whale watching opportunities on the coast.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is perfect for nature enthusiasts and surfers who want to stay as close to the ocean as possible. It is ideal for RVers who enjoy a wilderness-focused camping style but appreciate the convenience of on-site electricity. Families and solo travelers seeking a quiet, reflective atmosphere away from the bustle of commercial resorts will find that this park provides the ultimate West Coast experience.

Very quiet, clean, and beautiful campsite. Bathrooms and showers are cleanest I’ve ever been to and I have camped a lot of places. Be advised National sites are very “bear aware” and you will need to put everything away any time you leave your site. This campsite is great for biking with a beautiful paved trail that leads into both Ucluelet one way and Tofino the other- worth the ride. Long beach is stunning, with so much space we felt like the only people on the beach some days. You can walk and walk at low tide which is beautiful. Sunsets are also a must watch. The weather is coastal for sure and can be windy with cloud cover or misty and can be colder than you’d expect at night so bring warm clothes! Every site also has an electrical hookup which is really handy if you need to charge things- I’d recommend bringing a small extension cord so you could charge in your tent. Beach access is hilly so come prepared to walk up a steep hill on the way back.

We were happy winners to have a spot in this campground the same day we arrived. Out trip was spontaneous and when we came to the campground we were happy to hear that someone decided to leave earlier and now they have the free spot. The camp is near the Long Beach. So it’s a short walk there and also you will find a lot of Blue Jay there Highly recommended to stay there!

This is a great campsite. Electrical hookup means no generators, so it's very peaceful. The trees are thick between each site so it feels very private. Facilities were well kept, but poorly designed. Beach access is down a long trail with a 5-10% grade, so not very accessible for people with mobility limitations. The gatehouse differs from BC parks in that the only thing they sell is firewood. No ice, or treats for the kids.

The campground is clean with well-maintained facilities. Having electric hookups is so convenient! In the evenings, children can attend fun lectures at the theater. Long Beach is peaceful and lovely~

Great campground!! The shower by the walk-in sites had actual hot water and pressure!! Actual bathrooms with sinks, a scuba divers shower as well as a place to wash your dishes. Only downside…was the walking back to our site from the beach. Pretty steep path
