Parkview RV Park

Overview

Parkview RV Park offers a peaceful, no-frills camping experience in the historic heart of Virginia. This park is primarily designed for travelers who appreciate a quiet atmosphere and easy access to local landmarks. As a locally owned destination, it provides a straightforward home base for exploring the rich heritage of the region without the distractions of a busy resort. It serves as a reliable stopover for those traveling through the Appomattox area.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated just off Highway 460, making it incredibly accessible for big rigs and long-haul travelers. Despite its proximity to the road, the park maintains a serene environment surrounded by the rolling landscapes of central Virginia. It is located just minutes away from the town of Appomattox, where visitors can find local dining and essential services while enjoying the rural charm of the Virginia countryside.

Amenities & Park Features

Facilities at the park are centered on providing essential comforts for modern RVs. Guests have access to full hookups including water, sewer, and both 30 and 50-amp electrical service. The sites are level and gravel-based, offering both pull-through and back-in options to accommodate different rig sizes. While the park focuses on a minimalist approach, it provides reliable utility connections and well-maintained grounds for a stress-free stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for visitors is the proximity to the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, the site where the American Civil War effectively ended. History enthusiasts can explore the restored village and the McLean House. Additionally, the American Civil War Museum is nearby, offering deep insights into the era. For outdoor recreation, Holiday Lake State Park provides opportunities for hiking and fishing within a short drive of the RV park.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for history buffs and retirees who are looking for a calm, well-located spot to rest between sightseeing excursions. Because of its uncomplicated layout and reliable hookups, it is also a great choice for overnight travelers passing through Virginia. This review is no reflection of the actual park, as we unfortunately didn’t even get to that point. I called to inquire about a long-term rv stay and was met by an extremely rude woman. I asked basic questions about how much a monthly rv stay would be. She said “$860/month but the price will be going up in May”. I asked how much it will be going up and she “didn’t know yet”. She proceeded to ask me if I worked in the area (she said that affected the price too, although I have no idea why), and what I was doing in the area. Although that didn’t seem relevant, I remained polite and explained I work remotely and that my husband and I were house hunting. She asked what working remotely was, so I told her I work from home. She said “so you work for yourself”. I said no, I work for a company but I work from home. She asked if my husband worked. I laughed and said no, I make good money (again, no idea why this is relevant as she mentioned they run background and credit checks). When asked who was staying in the trailer, I said me, my husband and two dogs. She asked what breed the dogs were. I said a corgi and a Rottweiler and asked if the Rottweiler would be an issue (which I totally understand for insurance purposes. There are a lot of rv parks that do not allow Rottweilers, and we are very familiar with this. It’s no problem and we look elsewhere). So in response to asking her if it would be an issue she said “well that’s a vicious breed”. I said I completely understand, so if that’s not something you’re comfortable with, no problem. She still said it’s a vicious breed and said she needed to talk to her brother about it. She also grilled me on how long we’d be staying, more questions about why we would be in the area. Overall, it felt like an interrogation, and it seemed like she was trying to find a reason to refuse us. But no need! We will NOT be staying here.

Great campground. Pulling a 39 ft fifth wheel with a one ton truck site was easy to pull in and pull out. Water electric and sewer hookups were easily accessible and fully functional. Campground is clean and well managed. Customer service is great.

This was the easiest park to check in and out! And so close to the Appomattox museum! We went sightseeing then came back to let the dogs out. Very nice!

There's no bath house but the spaces are nice and large and close to everything you could possibly imagine

Nice, gravel spots with wide grass area at the site. We had full hookups. The Appomattox Courthouse NHP is nearby. Cash or check only? Only complaint is that the majority of sites face so the RV door side is full sun & no shade.
