Peace Park

Overview

Peace Park serves as a tranquil oasis for travelers navigating the scenic routes of western Manitoba. Located within the welcoming town of Russell, this municipal campground is celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere and lush landscape. It acts as a gateway to the Parkland region, offering a quiet retreat where RVers can recharge after a long day on the road. The park emphasizes a community-first feel, ensuring every visitor feels like a guest of the town rather than just another traveler passing through the prairies.

Location & Surroundings

Strategically positioned along the Yellowhead Highway, the park provides effortless access for those moving between provinces. Despite its central location in Russell, the site is buffered by mature stands of trees that provide excellent shade and privacy for most campsites. The surrounding area is characterized by the rolling hills of the Qu'Appelle and Assiniboine valleys, offering a picturesque backdrop that defines the natural beauty of western Manitoba while keeping modern conveniences within walking distance.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed with practicality in mind, offering 30-amp electrical service and potable water hookups at the sites. Modern washroom facilities and hot showers are available to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, regardless of their rig's size. Families often appreciate the following features:

  • Well-maintained on-site playground equipment for children.
  • Dedicated picnic areas and communal fire pits.
  • Spacious, level grassy pads that accommodate various RV lengths.

These features create a social yet respectful environment where travelers can enjoy the outdoors in comfort.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

A major draw for visitors is the proximity to Lake of the Prairies, a renowned destination for master angler walleye fishing and summer boating. Just a short drive away, Asessippi Provincial Park offers extensive hiking and mountain biking trails for the active traveler. In the town of Russell, you can explore local artisan shops or enjoy the regional heritage displayed at the museum. The nearby Trans-Canada Trail sections provide even more opportunities for morning nature walks and birdwatching.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for cross-country RVers who need a reliable and accessible stopover with the convenience of being in town. It appeals strongly to those who enjoy small-town charm and the ability to walk to local restaurants or grocery stores. If you are looking for a family-friendly environment that serves as a quiet home base while exploring the natural wonders of the Manitoba Parkland, this park is an outstanding choice for your travel itinerary.
