Stunning campgrounds, we stayed at Lower , but took a drive to Upper ... (this was several years ago, , but leaving a review if you're towing, the road in between is V sketchy ... ) do your research as may have been improved .. as other have said, it gets COLD ...

8000 feet. August 23. Some wind wind chill around 45 degrees. I was bundled up the whole time. Cold weather was not comfortable to me. Fisherman's paradise.

Really nice campground and facilities. Room for trailers and the lake is beautiful.

Nice PG&E campground. Lots of lakes up here to explore. Even better if you have a side by side, dirtbike, or quad. Fishing was fantastic, caught several large cutthroat trout in a short time.

Lake is beautiful, campground is pretty good except that most of the sites are incredibly too close to each other, nice lake access, WONDERFUL campground host (David)...but the MOSQUITOS were relentless morning and early evening to overnight! I mean brutal! No amount of multiple layers or spray or smoke from a fire deterred them. It is also extremely windy. I left a day early even though I had already paid. I couldn't take the mosquitos anymore.

We loved it, even though the water was down and the temperature was low, the surrounding area is beautiful, plus we caught fish and released them to get bigger plus make more fish for the future.

Pretty remote and usually not too crowded.
