What a Beautiful place! Campsites are well taken care of. Unfortunately the weather was not great when we visited with great winds coming off of Lake Superior. If wind or rain is in the forecast I would advise it is not worth it to come out, they close the beaches for dangerous water conditions. We weren’t able to kayak either. We didn’t have any issues with this but one thing to note is no bear boxes, they recommend keeping food in car.

The far western edge of twelvemile Beach is where the trail to the Au Sable light station begins. Such a pretty beach and apparently there's twelve miles of it to explore so enjoy.

Beautiful lakeside camping. (Site 34 woods side of the loop.) Two minute walk to beach. Nice quite sites with lots of space. Beach is amazing for long walks and sunsets. The one negative were the mosquitoes!!!! The beach was fine but in the woods at my site they were heavy. That said what would you expect for first week in June. Just bring good bug protection and you’ll be fine.

Twelve mile beach campground was serenity, blissful just heavenly! So peaceful and quiet. The camp host was incredible and so friendly. The campsite itself was very clean with ample space. The bathrooms were amazingly clean, but at night make sure you take a flash light. Staff clean the bathrooms regularly. We stayed at campsite 2 which was conveniently located right next to the bathroom with a boardwalk leading to it, but still had plenty of privacy. The steps to the beach were just across the street but still had privacy. During the day we went hiking to Ausable light house which was a super nice easy walk. This whole place was incredible.

Stayed in site 22. Nice access to lake. Have Verizon and had no cell service at all. Would definitely stay here again.

Love the campground and the access to lake superior. The only bummer is that they have tent and vehicle limits which make it hard for big families to stay there.

We tent camped with the family. The campsite was quiet and spacious with easy access to the beach. Nice secluded area but within a reasonable drive to some great sites along the National Lakeshore.

We stayed at site 25 and think we had the best spot!! Our tent (14x9) was larger than the tent pad and would have fit better on other sites, BUT with a view of the lake, our own path down to the steps and falling asleep to the waves crashing every night...AMAZING! The beach is beautiful and the rocks are gorgeous!! If you are willing to drive out of the way for a truly gorgeous campground with amazing sunsets over a lake, visit this campground and unplug for a while since there is no service. Trust me, you won't miss it!

Great campground. Was very scenic. And we'll spaced apart campsites. Close to the beach for even more views. Awesome sunset views. And great to see the stars after dark.

What a great place to camp! We arrived on a Wednesday (July 4th) at 10am and there was only 2 spots available which we expected with the high demand of the 34 sites. Over the next couple mornings there was 5 to 10 open sites available each morning. There are post at each site that says when the campers are planning on checking out. The bugs were really bad our first night, but from what I hear is normal during this time of the year, but over night northern winds came in and blew them inland. The weather was amazing 80's and 50s at night. The camp site was great, I really liked the fire pits and how they adjust easily, there was also a picnic table and lantern hook. There is running water but we didn't use it because we brought enough for the 4 days we were there. I would recommend that everyone would stay here, if you don't find a spot then there are several other camp grounds close. If you need firewood there are several local people that sell it within 5 miles of the campsites. And there is a county store 10 or so miles down the road.
