Placerville KOA Journey
You know that you've struck gold when you discover the Placerville KOA!
The Placerville KOA Campground is located in the foothills between the Sacramento Valley and the gorgeous Sierra Nevada Mountains of Lake Tahoe. It's a terrific launching pad for trips to California's Gold Country, the American River, Apple Hill, Old Town Sacramento, and Red Hawk Casino. Visit the area wineries or plentiful apple orchards with handmade crafts, pies and pastries. Relax in the refreshing pool (in-season) and hot tub, or take the free on-call shuttle to Red Hawk Casino for a delicious buffet. Sunday mornings in the summer, this KOA serves a fabulous breakfast. Join in movie nights, with free popcorn and other goodies, in support of KOA Care Camps (most Fri/Sat's). Enjoy the new arcade, giant tent with free Ping-Pong and foosball and hand-dipped ice cream. Stop by to pamper the adorable miniature goats. Enjoy the new large dog park for your four-legged buddies! Pool: May 1 - September 30. Max pull thru: 121 feet. Your hosts: John, Cindy, & John Jr (Jay) Simoneau

I’ve stayed here a few times in our Motorhome and it’s been great! Hosts are friendly, very welcoming and helpful. I like the location, quick drive west to Folsom, or East to Apple Hill and everything in between.

Unfortunately, our trip here was not for pleasure, but it was a nice place to park for a few nights. A little close to the freeway, but the noise is really only heard in the morning. I would suggest the back-in sites on the north side. The park has several amenities for kids, swings, goat petting, playground, pool, mini-golf, etc. I hope to get back up here to stay in the future.

Had a wonderful weekend getaway at the resort! Got a 1 room cabin, clean, decent amount of space, nice microwave and fridge, smart TV and a cute porch swing! Bed was comfortable too! The views were lovely and the area was so quiet and peaceful. Hot tub and pool was clean and well kept. Bathroom/ showers were also nice. Will return again!

Great place so far, it is close to road but really not bad at all. You AC or heater is louder. Sites are really nice, and has great areas for kids in between area trips. Looks well maintained as well.

We stayed the weekend before Halloween in our RV to visit the area for Fall festivities. We were hopeful it would be a fun park we’d revisit, but unfortunately, we won’t be back as we’ve stayed in others nearby that were much more enjoyable. Pros: they have a fenced in dog area, a small pond, and a little mini golf course that would be fun for families, and a small playground for kids. Our friends enjoyed the little train thing around camp and I’m sure the pool is fine in warm weather. It’s also close to Apple Hill and Placerville. Cons: The location is directly next to the busy/noisy highway, sites are small and assigned by the resort, the resort texts rules reminders at weird times, there is a lack of bathrooms, and the staff was unwilling to accommodate any site preferences since they are chosen by them. Kind of weird. We’d hoped for some Halloween/holiday fun as we’ve had at other places, but it’s not that kind of camp spot.
