A wonderful park for camping. The campground is very well cared for and clean. Gravel dites were level and easily accessed. Good shower and bathroom facilities. We didn't access the lake since we were passing through but was a beautiful body of water. The camp hostess stopped by and was very nice. Would stay here again.

Excellent park. About half the spaces are really large so you are not cramped in with back to back campers. Well manicured and clean. Only downside were the biting flies in July

This review covers Prairie Dog and Shady Rest campgrounds. I want to start out with that we didn't have very high expectations for this. We had trouble finding a spot, and didn't get to stay as long as we wanted. PD is probably more popular, mostly paved sites, some pull through, smaller trees. SR is older, gravel sites, back in, bigger trees, more shade. All sites are large, I didn't see any with sewer, supposed to be 10 overall. Lots of area mowed, this looks well cared for. We were impressed by these campgrounds. Showers are spacious, no mirrors, no electricity, just a stall and a bench with 2 hooks. Expect sites to be hard to come by, especially on the weekend, lots of longer term campers, was told, so 2nd hand, people get reservations in January.

Beautiful camping area. The primitive camping areas were large and lush. In the morning we woke up to the sounds of the bird wild life which seems to be abundant. The camp ground did not seem over populated and the non primitive side had Ramadan, Frisbee golf corse and playground.

Very clean and pretty park. Nice camping spots. Nice lake. Prairie Dog town was full of those cute little fatties. 😀

Nice and clean park, and the prairie dogs are pretty cute! We didn’t see any at our campsite (Shady Rest Campground) but we saw a bunch on the way in. The lake is pretty and there are a lot of picnic tables around the park to enjoy the view.

Very large park with a number of amenities. There are a number of prairie dogs all throughout the entrance area. We saw a burrowing owl as well and it took some photos and maybe a video or two. There is a boat ramp on the north side of the lake. And a number of other amenities as well.

Prairie Dog State Park is a beautiful, expansive park located near Sebelius Reservoir. With 11 campground areas offering everything from primitive tent accommodations to RV full hookup, you will find your perfect camping experience right here. We stayed on a pull thru water/50 amp electric site in the Prairie Dog Campground. It was spacious, long enough for our truck and travel trailer, and had a picnic table, a fire ring, and a stationary grill. The park offers a beach at the reservoir with a swimming area, a boat ramp, a fishing dock, a fish cleaning station, multiple picnic shelters, a lakeside pavilion with a community firepit, a basketball court, a volleyball area, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf baskets, an archery range, playgrounds for the kids, cabins, and shower houses/bathrooms as well as vault commodes. There is an on-site Adobe Home that was constructed in the late 1800s - very interesting to view. And, of course, Prairie Dog Town is the section of the park to view the prairie dogs and burrowing owls in their natural habitat.

We visited in early July for the day. Very green and beautiful. Stopped at the visitor’s center on the way in and the woman working the front desk was very kind and friendly, answering questions and making us feel welcome. I even purchased some t-shirts and stickers. Got to see Prairie dogs in Prairie Dog Town, so cute! Then drove around the lake. Campsites look so nice. Lots of large trees for shade. Seems like a great way to spend the weekend.
