First time beach camping ever and this place set the bar high. Awesome views. Chill vibes. Great waves. Saw seals and dolphins. Firewood for sale near entrance. Waking up to waves crashing is amazing. Will definitely be back. Book early!

Kevin and I stayed at Thornhill Broome Campground for my birthday, and it turned into such a special coastal getaway If you’re looking for beach camping in Malibu or a campground right on the ocean in California, this spot is truly something special. The campsites are set directly along the beach, so you’re falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up with the ocean just steps away. That alone made the whole experience feel peaceful and unforgettable. There’s a good amount of space between sites, so it doesn’t feel overcrowded, and the overall atmosphere is calm and relaxing perfect for a quiet escape or slow weekend. We also felt very safe. State park rangers were patrolling regularly, and we even saw highway patrol throughout the day, which added extra peace of mind. A few helpful things to know: • Check in is at 2 PM, check out is at 12 PM • Firewood is available from the camp host (super convenient) • The gate closes at 8 PM if you leave, make sure you’re back before then It does get a bit windy at night, and the nearby highway can be slightly noisy in the morning, but it didn’t take away from the experience for us. The bathrooms are porta potties, but they were cleaned often and didn’t smell, which we appreciated. We spent our time walking the shoreline, watching the sunset (absolutely stunning here), and just slowing down together. It’s one of those places where the simple moments end up meaning the most. If you’re searching for a peaceful oceanfront campground in Malibu with beautiful views and easy beach access, this is such a great find. Definitely one of our favorite little escapes and a birthday I’ll never forget!

Campground right on the sand on the beach. Sunsets were beautiful! Picnic table, fire rings with grill. Porta potty was clean-ish. No showers. Firewood available near the gate. Hard to get a spot on the weekends though. Overall, we loved it here, peaceful and the sunset was spectacular!

This campsite is great. You can drive any car, not worry about low ground clearance cuz the path is paved. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit and is literally right on the beach. Like right there. Porta potties every 5 spaces, if you're getting in the water there's a ton of rocks where the waves crash so wear water shoes. If you fish, it's hard getting your cast out past the rocks and it's easy to lose a couple lures

Stood 1 day. Wish I stood 1 week. So relaxing and peaceful. Listening to the waves crash none stop is great. Weather was a little warm. Extremely windy at night. Its right next to Highway 1, so you get traffic sounds all day and very little late night. Bathrooms are portapotties and are kept pretty clean. Spigot of water and no trash pickup. So take it out!

Right on the beach. Porta-potties were clean. Water spigots available. Wind can be stong in the afternoons. Park Rangers were great. No LifeGaurds,if swimming, buddy system or have someone watch you.

Sleeping at the beach is a must for all campers. The waves at night can be calming and terrifying at the same time.

First let’s start with how rude the young men are whom work at the kiosk. This alone will make us never be back. Upon arrival the staff was very unprofessional. The questions we had were met with short, rude answers. The two young men acted as if we were a bothering them. The porta potties are disgustingly dirty. Trash all over the beach and the oil sludge/tar was impossible to get off of our feet 👣. Rocks everywhere on the beach was is fine but be careful because while swimming close to shore one pelted me in the leg and it hurt! I had a nice bruise for a week. The tide gets so high in the evening you need to be very cautious as to where you pop your tent. Be careful of staying next to the trash bins because they overflow and STINK 🤢. All in all after years of camping we will not be back here. Years ago this was one of the best. The park rangers sure have let this one go downhill and it’s a shame.obviously not all is their fault but the bad attitude and the unclean nature of the campsite needs to be addressed.

Average amenities. Good view. Able to sleep under the stars as there are no sand/beach bugs.

Very simple setup. You can set up a tent on the beach, it's a beautiful location.

We love this beach for Dry camping in our RV Trailer. This campground is a side road along the beach. You are assigned a parking spot. Your RV is parked along the sand. Right side of RV opens to the sand. Your space is probably 50 foot long. The sand is marked all the way to the beach on both sides with hand sized rocks. Its all yours! Water is approximately 50 yards from the RV spot. Ive seen reviews that mention the rocky beach down at the surf. It depends on the time of year and where your site is. My wife and I went two times in one year. Once in the spring, once in the fall. Our spot was just south of the entrance. First visit, no rocks at surf area, just sand down to the water. Next trip, rocks all the way into the water. The seasonal tide shifts and causes the sand to go away and return. Heads up, rocks are more abondant the farther south you go, less as you go north. Call and ask about rocks when you register. It is a beautiful place with all types of wild life, pelicans, etc. Remember it is dry camping. No dump station. No power. A water spiget is available. Because it is beach side and you are parked along the highway you can run your generator whenever you need it.

We went here for a birthday camping trip as my SO and I share the a birthday with 1 day apart! Scheduling online was a little finicky but worked out in the end and that what matters honestly haha. We got I believe camping spot 17 and what an amazing spot and view. Even just getting into the camp grounds the mood and atmosphere was so welcoming and nice (the ranger who let us in was so kind to us!). We definitely recommend to bring your own firewood as the ones that they sell are 8 dollars a pack (so if you know a guy def use that person instead) and bring a bigger tent if you're going to camp in a tent as the condensation goes wild during the night and makes the inner walls of the tent SOAKING wet so to not have your blankets and sleeping bags drenched you need more space in the center of the tent. Each site allows up to 3 cars and as long as your inside of your section I think up to 8-10 people (or as many as can fit honestly can't really tell?). A big warning for those who want to get into camping and want to do beach camping as an introductory camping experience BRING MORE LAYERS in terms of clothes, blankets, sleeping gear. If you get too hot you can always take off a layer but if you're freezing you if you don't have that layer you're going to be MISERABLE. Typically I usually bring my own toliet paper for restroom things but the port-a-pottys seem to have some decent TP and was pretty clean (but as clean as a outdoor port-a-potty would be.

Our favorite place to camp on the beach!! For the experience of sleeping on the sand it is completely worth the $35!! The sunsets are amazing. We’ve loved camping here for many years. Book in advance as it gets booked fast!! We got lucky and found a cancellation last minute. Check in is easy and the spaces are large!! There is easily enough room for 4 or 5 big tents and 3 vehicles. Each spot has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are porta-pottys(this was the only negative for us as they were gross and messy) No showers. Water spigots are along the road. The camp host has firewood for sale most of the time. Closest store is about 20 minutes away. We will keep staying here!

View of the ground is beautiful by the side of ocean and mountains camp is in between. At night you can see lots of stars ,moon and you can hear waves sound.Only Portable restrooms but no shower room. And if you forget to take wood there one lady will be selling it I think around 8$ or so.
