Radley Park

Overview

Radley Park is a serene municipal campground located where the Kitimat River meets the coastal wilderness of Northern British Columbia. Managed by the District of Kitimat, this park offers a peaceful escape for travelers seeking a connection with nature without straying too far from essential town services. It is particularly famous for its ancient Sitka spruce trees and the lush, green landscapes that define the Pacific Northwest experience. Whether you are passing through on a coastal circle tour or staying to fish, the park provides a quiet, well-maintained base for your RV adventures.

Location & Surroundings

Situated on the banks of the Kitimat River, the park is surrounded by towering evergreens and provides easy access to the Douglas Channel. The local geography is characterized by tidal influences and coastal mountain views, creating a dramatic and moody backdrop for camping. Its proximity to the town of Kitimat ensures that groceries and supplies are just a short drive away, yet the dense forest canopy makes the campground feel secluded. The air is often filled with the sound of the rushing river, making it a prime spot for wildlife viewing, including bald eagles and the occasional black bear.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground offers a mix of serviced and unserviced sites to accommodate different camping styles. Many sites include 30-amp power and water hookups, while a centrally located sani-dump station is available for waste management. Each site features a picnic table and a fire pit for evening gatherings. Visitors can enjoy well-kept grassy areas, clean washroom facilities, and a modern playground for families. One of the standout features is the accessible walking trail leading to the legendary giant Sitka spruce, which is one of the largest and most photographed trees in the province.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is the primary draw for many visitors, with the Kitimat River offering world-class opportunities for salmon and steelhead. Anglers can access the water directly from the park or take a short drive to various local boat launches. For hikers, the nearby Hirsch Creek Park offers additional trails through old-growth forests and scenic canyons. Those interested in local history and industry can explore the Kitimat Museum & Archives. Additionally, the waterfront at Hospital Beach provides a great vantage point for watching large vessels navigate the channel or for launching a kayak into the saltwater.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for avid anglers and nature photographers who want to be steps away from the water and deep forest trails. It caters well to families who appreciate a safe, quiet environment with space for children to play. Because the sites vary in size, it is a good fit for medium-sized RVs and camper vans seeking a rustic yet comfortable stay. If you prefer a forest setting over a paved commercial resort and enjoy falling asleep to the natural sounds of a river, Radley Park is a perfect stop on your British Columbia journey.

Great family friendly campground minutes from fishing spots, grocery stores, gas, and liquor! Power and off grid sites, bathrooms are generally clean. We live in town, but love camping here!

The campground is very nice and sites are mostly very private. A lot of great wood is offered for burning and it has some amazing views. Had a great time here. Only downside is the office is open at off times and we couldn't get a hold of anyone who worked there when we tried.

We absolutely love this campground.. the people who look after it were amazing I liked the sites we were in. It is next to one of the best fishing spots in town. The only thing I can say is both showers in the men's were out of service for 3 of our 7 days..

The sites are nice. The office is only open from 5pm to 8pm. They do not return phone calls or emails. The site was 50 amp but the connection is not standard. (Will post a picture) We left because you could not use the power. There are no sewer or water connections at the site, but there are several fill locations and a dump station. Although the sites are enough for big rigs the road had a tight turn and was difficult for a 42 ft fifith wheel.
