Red Rock Canyon

I came here in June around noon and it was already really hot and dry. We paid the entrance fee $6 at the Ranger Station and refilled some water. All trails in the park are short and can be done in ~1 hour. We chose the most popular trail called Haegen Canyon Trail. It's a short trail but you can see the rock formations close up. Even though it's a short trail, you're advised to bring plenty of water. This is an interesting park to stop by if you're on the way to elsewhere, but it's best to visit at dusk or dawn.

It's a unique rock formations. Usually you would think these rock formations are limited to Utah or Northern Arizona, but here in California where you have it here as well. The toilet outside of the visitor center is kind of smelly. The visitor center opens only on the weekends.

I tried to camp there, but their signage, and path to the campgrounds are narrow. Their campsites seem to be set up for campervan and small campers. Park rangers were not very helpful. The visitor center was closed after I returned twice to this location! It is too bad since I have hiked in this area before I got my camper, but I will not be returning!

Beautiful rock formations. Like Bryce Canyon but without the color. Hiking trails poorly marked. Some wild flowers but no bloom. Worth a visit

The visitors center and the road into it were closed due to recent storms. We could only hike by the large parking area on the other side of the main highway, but that area by itself was incredible.

It was so relaxing! The employees were very friendly and informative about things going on around them. We did some hiking up in the horse shoe area and it was worth the climb. My niece and I cooked over the fire, enjoyed some needed time away from the city and that’s what we got.

Overall really nice and quiet, genuinely nice and caring owners. Lots of semi-rugged hiking (not walking) trails requiring some athleticism and dexterity- not for disabled people. Although very dog-friendly, the areas not paved contain many goatheads, so beware. Can easily accommodate large RV's and travel trailers, though the road down and out is quite tortuous and steep. Sites have electric and water with a communal dump station with tank flush, but no potable water, so fill your tank before leaving your site. Would revisit in the future if the opportunity presented itself.

One of my favorite places to get a quick easy hike. Taken the kiddo a couple times also. Easy for him and us both and plenty of places to stop to have a picnic. Very clean area and camping grounds. Would bring bug spray of course and the usual camel back and sunscreen. Really pretty scenery also.

I loved coming here when I was a kid. It was privately bought, so it's no longer a state park. Campgrounds were very clean. Pool was a great relief to the heat. But it's $7 a day per person. Would have been 5 stars but there are no anchor points anywhere for repelling. Sadly we were not able to repel. Biggest reason we went. Be sure to bring your own tools for anchors. They should put that on the advertising. Any trees that could have been used to tie off, were dead or too small. Bathrooms were very clean, and had hot water There is lots of water spickets throughout the campgrounds, which makes washing dishes easy. Very friendly staff.

I loved this place. It’s an easy, quick drive from the OKC metro and absolutely worth it. $10 entrance fee to the state park—totally fair for what you get. The terrain shift is wild: you're driving along flat land, then suddenly drop into a hidden valley and boom—everything changes. It's serene, scenic, and unexpectedly stunning. The trails are shaded and cool, especially refreshing on a hot day. Great views, well-kept paths, and plenty to explore. Campsites looked popular, and there’s even a pool (separate fee, but a good option for families with kids). I'll definitely be coming back. This spot is a hidden gem.

We had a blast camping here. We had a group of six of us in an RV. The grounds are very well taken care of and the staff is very friendly. There are tons of great trails to hike. We did run into some poison ivy on the trails, but that is to be expected. We came about 4 hours from Fort Worth, TX, and look forward to coming back again.

On Memorial weekend, we're decided to explore California sceneries, took a long drive from Fremont to Red Rock Canyon State Park. The Red Cliffs Nature Trail and the Hagen Nature Trail. These sceneries were so beautiful. We visited in the afternoon and in the morning to see with both morning light and afternoon light. They're both wonderful to see. From the Bay, Apple Car Play took us on 101 instead of 5. It was hot but not too bad. We booked a place to stay in Mojave CA-56 and Highway 14, it's only 24 miles to the trails. We started at 11AM and got to the trails at 5PM. Red Cliffs Nature Trail: It's the first one on the right from highway 14 north and it's so windy in the evening, the wind practically blew us away, the rocks formations are so unique, the color was so beautiful, we keep looking at all the rocks and mountains. Hagen Nature Trail: as soon as we drive out to HWY14, the trail is on the other side, we need to turn left to park. The rock formations over here are different. From here, we can drive to Ricardo Camp Ground, but we didn't stay. California is beautiful and we will try to see all the nature beauties that it has. Next stop, Sequoia Grizzly Falls.

This is a beautiful, well maintained campground that used to be a state park but is now privately owned. I saw a ton of wildlife and birds on the extensive trail system that surrounds the campground and inside the campground as well. Would highly recommend. Especially for the price and location if you happen to be traveling down I40.
