Beautiful little park. Big Campground, river access, nice hiking trails. Right off the highway, very cool visitors center and Historical building. Plenty of redwoods to enjoy and prepare you for what's to come further north.

This was an awesome place to camp and explore. I wanted to stay longer! Even cooler to see all of the reviews and how families have been enjoying this spot for decades. We had a large area to ourselves, and it was beautiful. We initially planned to stay at the RV park up the street but after driving through both, it was well worth it to dry camp at the state park due to how much safer it felt and how pretty it was. Showers were hot and clean and there was plenty of trash and recycling bins. You should know it is cash only but there is an ATM at the gas station up the road.

If you are looking for a day trip- I suggest Gaberville, CA. Richardson Grove State Park is Magical!! The Redwoods and Sequoias are historic, healthy, and colorful. The park transcends you into a different realm of the world. The air is crisp, clean and virtuous. The park is very clean with plenty of parking. The drive from the Bay Area is scenic. Bring water, snacks or food.

Richardson Grove SP is not for everyone. Easy access, things to do, & small. Sorta like glamping, or just a destination. State Parks has a detailed map.
