Nice campground with beautiful scenery. Just understand that the water level of the lake might be very low or dry. In Oct 2025, over half the lake was dry. The other half was extremely low so if you are counting on boating activities, call the park before confirming your plans.

Nice clean park, we stay on the lower loop with hot showers and flush toilets. Campsites spacious, paved with a covered shelter and fire pit. Don’t miss Rifle Falls SP just a few miles north. Hard working host. And frequent uniformed rangers visit. The town of Rifle is a few minutes away and has all you need.

Great place to go efoiling or paddle boarding or kayaking. If you are a boater and the water is lower at the end of season it is a little small. Both ends are shallow. They must use the water for irrigation. The bonus is that within 18 miles is the grand hogback mountain biking trails which seem better than Fruita and vie to challenge a lot of Moab much more great trails than McCoy flats too You have to like flow trails in order to appreciate them. Also the town of Rufke has occasional live music and provisions. It is nearby. One of the best weeks ever

Rifle Gap State Park is a truly breathtaking environment offering the best of what camping offers — cleanliness, photoworthy views, and enough space for an entire cohort of family and friends. As I experienced throughout my three nights at the state park, the views are absolutely stunning with plenty of sunrises and sunsets, crystal views of the lake only a short walk away, and occasional wildlife to take pictures of. Moreover, I am thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness, especially concerning the restrooms and shower services that the campground allows access to. Not only were there zero bugs or other vexing flies, but the park offers a warm shower and even a soap dispenser. The lake offers a perfect opportunity to paddleboard or boat on with calm, relaxing water and plenty of area to explore. WARNING: Watch out for magpies — black and white intelligent birds — as they easily steal food and trash. If you pick up after yourself, they shouldn’t be a problem.
