Wow, what a change since the new "management team" has taken over for the owner. Customer service is definitely an oxymoron with this new group. Reserved a site for our son & young family which was supposed to have 30A service. During a heat wave this was very important to have A/C running in the full exposure site. Turns out once settled in and hooked up it was discovered the site has to SHARE a 30A breaker with and adjacent site! Both sites could not run A/C simultaneously and had to co-ordinate appliances accordingly otherwise the breaker trips which had to be reset inside a locked building. The staff knew this fault existed but didn't advise the campers until they discovered it on their own. The "management team" claimed they have had a difficult time getting an electrician on site. I think they are simply letting the maintenance on this increasingly shabby RV "resort" decline.

Edit: we talked to Heather the owner of Riverbend. She assured us that our past interactions with other staff were unfortunate and that she was taking care of our issues. It turns out that due to the extreme hot weather BC has been experiencing, bats had snuck into the roof. Hopefully they will not come back now. The model RV park unit was clean, beach access was adequate, beach itself is very nice. Good location to amenities nearby (like mini golf, rathtrevor, downtown). Roads are quiet and one way inside the resort which is a bonus with little kids. However we did find parts of the playground unsafe (bolt and nut loose on one slide, wooden ladder rung broken on another playground, a second slide incorrectly attached -too short and too steep to safely slide down). Management knows and is working on upgrading the playground (they explained some parts had been vandalized earlier and they have fixed the swings). Our unit was missing a cutting board, and we didn't have some items such as salt, pepper, cookie sheet, baking pan, which would have made cooking easier. Other things to consider: lots of tree coverage, open area near playground for games. There is an eating area and BBQ beside playground so it is easy to cook and watch kids. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely loved renting a cabin here they were able to take our reservation with short notice and we even came earlier then check in was and they had the cabin ready. So quiet even though the main road is close by. You get free access to the river and beach there. The price was also super great! I will 100% be coming back to stay when I visit Parksville again.

We loved the bachelor cabin! It was perfect for two people, but could accommodate more with the futon. It's got a fridge, stovetop, and dishes, as well as a full bathroom and all bedding and towels, so all you need is yourself and the food you bring. Loved the smell of the real log cabin, and really appreciated the cleanliness. The little beach beside the river is nice and would be a great spot to swim or fish from. We would love to come back and stay longer when we have the opportunity as there's lots to do in this gorgeous area. Big thanks to the kind staff for being accommodating to our needs!
